My Mother's Day Gift

I never know what to get my mom if you ask her what she wants she'll say nothing. Well I kept getting emails from Edible Arrangements and I looked at the prices and thought are they CRAZY. So I went to the dollar store last week and when I walked in these vases caught my eye and I thought to myself make your own edible arrangements. I painted the vases so here it is.

Not the best at arranging but I made two for not even the price of one from Edible Arrangements. I let my mom pick which one she wanted the other one goes to my grandma.

What a great idea!! Did you have to use a special paint for the vases? I'm sure your mom and grandma loved these.

Those turned out great! Besides being a much more economical gift, it's actually more meaningful because you took so much time to put it together for your Mom and Grandma. I bet they loved them.

I think the painted vases look cool -- you paint the inside, right? I've seen a similar technique with glass Christmas ornaments with paint swirled inside them. I can't do that kind of stuff -- but I appreciate those of you who have those crafting, creative abilities!

That is a wonderful idea! I always backed away from those arrangements also. Not only the expense, but the amount of cut fruit really needs to be eaten right away, and that's a lot of fruit! Kudos to you!

Well done! I love looking at the Edible Arrangements, they look so yummy. You did a great job and I'm sure both gifts were quite a surprise.

That looks wonderful!! What an excellent idea. You did a great job on those vases!!!! WOW!! I received an edible arrangement once and it was sooo good, but you are right they are so expensive.

Did they love them?

They loved their fake Edible Arrangements lol my grandma said I should go in business lmao,she also said she's wanted one for awhile now but doubt she'll get one in her life time lol. The paint I used was just whatever I had around the house, it's painted from the inside just poured some paint and swirled it and swirled it until it got to the top.

I may see if the dollar store has anymore vases my older sister said she wanted one for her birthday but wanted a zebra vase I don't think that zebra vase is possible at least not by my hands lol.

If you's try this get glass paint lmao my mom just tried to clean hers and well the paint is coming off, I used regular wall paint so lesson learned if I make anymore :)

Oh my gosh. That was a superb idea. Brought tears to my eyes. You did a great job and the arrangement was just wonderful. You did yourself proud girl. I've never bought one of those edible arrangements. Somebody suggested them if you might want to get something for a group, like maybe the office staff where you might work or your vets, especially if it is a large group. But to just buy one for one or two people, as has been said, that is a lot of fresh cut fruit. So you saved money, didn't waste a lot of fruit and it came right from the heart. Good job.
