Flirting with the freezing point this morning - but we'll warm up some

Nice and sunny now but I hear it is going to get overcast later.

    Happy Earth Day indeed!

4 to 8 inches of snow forecast for this afternoon. At least it's slowing up a bit. Probably wont get to the garden for a few days. Winter wheat, snow peas, iceberg lettuce. It's obvious that God has a warped sense of humor. Scientists think we may still be in the age of glaciers. Keep looking north. Uff da.

We had a frost warning last night. What crap.

I'm going to probably go try to observe a student in a bit. Then I'm going to run out to Party City and see if they have some balls that Luke might like. I had hoped to do that first, then go to the school, but they don't open until 9:30, and I'd see the student at 10:22. Party City is like, maybe 20-25 minutes away, and I might need to browse, and compare with the ball Luke already likes. So, first work, then I'll go to Party City.

Nice, relaxing weekend for a change.  Jamison went to a new groomer on Saturday and he smells yummy !!   We had a fun dinner out with the family yesterday and then POOF - the weekend was over.

This is practically an oxymoron in my world. LOL

Had a great afternoon on Friday. Except for the snow. Lunch with my friends was fun. Then I spent a couple hours visiting with another friend. DS cleaned our refrigerator(that was all I'd asked for) and he took me out for a really nice dinner on Saturday. The place we went, I had Butternut squash ravioli and it was great!

Tracy, from your "friend" thread and then the update, sounds like you did the right thing. I avoid drama like the plague, so the self-centered, self-seeking behavior really makes me want to run in the opposite direction. I changed my email to keep someone from contacting me and cancelled my land line to avoid two stalkers; I don't regret it.

Cathy, I hope your DH is done with vacation time!

Jackie, I hope you are feeling a bit better mentally today.

I made the espresso brownie cake recipe and in all honesty, I wish I'd taken my own advice and substituted a different flavor. Using instant coffee gave both the brownie and the frosting a very bitter flavor that even the Kahlua didn't mask. I love good espresso, but this missed the mark. Fortunately my DS and his friends seemed to like it, so all ingredients were not wasted.

We had a mini busy weekend.  Saturday we all headed to the dentist across town and I am very proud to say that Riley did awesome.  The first time we took her when she was 2 1/2 she bit the hygenist 9 times.  Partially because they had to restrain her.  It was a total nightmare.  Plus this was happening at the same time she was going through all the tests, etc. for her arthritis.  We have spent the last 3 years reintroducing her to the dentist - following the plan our new dentist gave us - taking it nice and slow.  She sat there and did the whole exam, cleaning, polishing, etc. and LOVED IT.  DH and I are so proud.

Saturday night DH took me out and bought me a Pandora bracelet as my present for my 40th bday next month.  It wasn't a suprise, but the additional 4 charms were.  Very awesome!!  Then I took him out to dinner at our favorite place as payment for losing our March Madness bracket tournament.  I lost by 1 pt.

Yesterday we putzed around the house and such.

The sun is shining - although chilly - but I will take it.  4 more wake ups until Friday.

Nope! He doesn't go back to work until Thursday :/

    Happy Gotcha Day Ruby!!!

The agility meet-up was fun yesterday and Shane did really good for a 1st timer but I'm not sure it was worth $20. I'm glad he got to experience it though and it did a nice job of wearing him out.

I went to see my niece play lacrosse yesterday at UC Davis and had a great time. I'd never seen a lacrosse game before but it was easier than some sports to figure out. Sadly, they lost and since my niece plays goalie, I think she took it especially hard. It was hotter than heck and about 1/2 way through the game, I had to go stand by the concession stands to get out of the sun. Afterwards, we all went out for Mexican food and I know my niece appreciated having family there.

I'm off today but since there's an all staff mtg going on at the office, I'm going in for a few hours. I ordered pizza for lunch, so I don't want to miss out on that :)

Cathy, we know the real reason you're going in to the office on your day off.  lol  Glad Shane had a good time at the agility meet up.  I thought you'd signed up for a class but understand now it was a one time thing.  Pizza?  Yes, I'll take one.

It's Ruby's Gotcha Day?  I guess that means she finally gets her toy that her mean mom wouldn't let her have last week. lol  Happy Gotcha Day, Ruby!  You're one lucky dog even with that mean mom. Wink

I'm doing my best to stay positive and upbeat.  Work has presented a huge and super scary challenge and it's going to be a tough couple of weeks ahead.  I may need to eat a lot of chocolate during the day and drink a lot of vodka in the evenings.  :)

I knew I could count on your support.  Tina, you're in charge of the chocolate supply.  :)  Wait, I must be crazy asking the foxes to guard the henhouse.  lol

    LOL!!!!!

I am so SORE today.  I know I'm terribly out of shape, but this is ridiculous (or gardening is physically harder than I expected).  I helped a friend weed a couple of her garden beds.  I spent probably 5 or 6 hours working.  I ended up aggravating my tennis elbow, my right wrist is very unhappy with me and just about every muscle in my body is achy and sore.  That said, I need to help her garden more often, since I got quite the workout!

Sharon, when I pull weeds, my lower back starts to scream, and my hamstrings are in agony.  DH thinks it's pathetic that I hobble around after an afternoon of weed pulling.  I'm sorry you're hurting, but I'm glad I'm not the only one!  :-)

Ruby's Gotcha Day is tomorrow.  Sorry if I confused everyone!  We had a close call with the "secret present" yesterday.  I had the utility room cupboard open because I was putting supplies away, and she snuck in when I turned my back and spotted the toy!  I nearly closed her nose in the door trying to hide it.  So on top of being a mean, teasing mommy, I'm also nearly abusive!  Tomorrow is the official toy-giving day.  Photos to come!

Yes, Tina -- I've no regrets about ignoring that email.  Like you, I try to avoid drama.  It's one thing to have to deal with it when it's people that are already a regular part of your life (family, inlaws, long-term friends with occasional issues).  But I'm glad I didn't open the door to a new source of  problems.

Yay for Riley at the dentist office!  She sounds more like a trooper than I am at the dentist!

Jen, I'm glad you've got your priorities in order:  work first, party second!  Wink

I woke up at 2:48 and could NOT fall back to sleep.  I was too hot, then I was too cold, then my mind starting whirling about crazy stuff.  We bought/ordered a new mattress yesterday, so I started having buyer's remorse (it was way more expensive than we'd planned).  So I started thinking, "Should we cancel the order?  Should we not buy the new headboard and bureau we picked out earlier?  I need a new job so we have more wiggle room in the budget.  Why have I stayed so long at this job?  Where will I find another one anyway?  Am I too old to find a good one now?"  Blah blah blah.  I got up at 5:30 just to quiet my head!

I feel less wimpy now!  My lower back is very sore and my legs are killing me.  I'm hobbling around the office today.
