she's one of those people who has a REALLY loud voice and whose laugh is a million decibels.  Even when I put my earbuds in and listen to music to try to drown her out, I can still hear her.

Tracy, I didn't know you lived next to me! I can sometimes be this person.Embarrassed I can't help my laugh, but in defense of my loud talking, I am hard of hearing in my right ear.

In fairness we live in a spread out and quiet subdivision - but of course the most obnoxious neighbor in the community backs up to our property. Apparently he lived at the other side of the development for a while before moving to this house (he's a realtor, of sorts). He has filled his lot with crap, has a full sized street lamp at the back and a zillion lights and lamps that are completely unnecessary. Add in the 3 constantly (I mean every minute they are out) dogs and days like today where he's chainsawing stuff - DH just said what in the world could he have left to chainsaw LOL He and his wife have LOUD arguments, play outdoor speakers for everyone. It really sucks. I try to manage my complaining but I feel one coming on. We have a fairly short windows open season due to the climate so when we get some window open time I want to enjoy it!!

Again I'll just say we are lucky with our Costco. I do think the pharmacy is open for non-member too. They have an 'uninsured dependent' program which they use for dogs and it gives a discount. I will not use anyone else at this point UNLESS I had an urgent need and they didn't stock it.

    Back to the grind

Tina, don't get me wrong --- I know I talk and laugh quite loudly, too (I became very aware of that when we first moved to Oregon -- my loud, east coast verbal habits often made heads turn when I was in a room with a bunch of Oregon natives).  And a hearty belly laugh is contagious, so that's actually good.

My neighbor goes a level above "regular" loudness -- I can't really put my finger on why it's more annoying -- I think the tone of her voice and the topics she talks about add some irritation.  The worst is when she and her husband have a party and everyone is enjoying wine all night long, then they stand in their driveway laughing and saying their goodbyes at 1AM.  The houses are extremely close together in our subdivision, so that's why it's more noticeable.

Also, her husband has a very fancy sports car with a loud engine, which he revs for no reason at all (other than to satisfy his testosterone urges, I guess).  Combine that with a party and his desire to show the car off to his tipsy friends . . . we're not the only neighbors who find that annoying.  Our squirrel-hating neighbor said the revving car wakes up his kids, so we suggested putting Ruby in their driveway on a morning after a party and encouraging her to bark incessantly as payback.

Okay, apparently this topic has hit a nerve for me.  I'll stop now!  Tongue Tied

A friend was just complaining about the thyroid medication she needs to have for her newly diagnosed Dobe.  Complaining about $18 for a 2-month supply of a medication given twice a day.  Jeez.  Calm down.  Yes, you can get it cheaper from Drs. Foster & Smith, but be prepared for frustration.  Karen, your story re: the Rx for Bugsy reminds me of my issues with F&S over Gracie's Soloxine Rx.  Such a PITA, that buying it from my vet is just easier.

Days in my new job are BUSY. I like that!  Lots of planning and logistics for Earth Day next week.  Good stuff!!

Paige, maybe you've talked about it on Facebook or I missed it here -- but did you get a new job already?  That was fast!  How great, especially in this tough job market (at least out here, anyway).  Is it closer to your house than your other job was?  Is it a similar type of position or something new?  Sounds like you found a good one!

Tracy, it sounds like you mean the kind of people who are loud because they want everyone around them to hear what they say and do, and I, too, find that obnoxious. A certain DS who lives with me likes to do that at times to create drama which I don't really care to share in.

Tina, I think you may be right about her wanting people to hear stuff.  She goes on and on about all the big vacations they're planning, her "perfect" kids and grandkids, their wine-tasting excursions, blah blah blah.  I don't begrudge people having full, fun lives, but there's a line where it becomes more like bragging and less like regular sharing.  Admittedly, I am a bit jealous of their leisurely lifestyle!  Wink

Both my DH and my best friend complain that I talk too softly. I think it's a combination of being told "shhhh..." so much when I was younger and also that I have a fairly deep voice for a female and it just doesn't travel as well. I had a friend who loved everyone to hear what she was saying. I found it really annoying, especially when she was talking about something the world shouldn't hear about.

Paige - I must've missed the news about your new job too. Please share and tell your friend to check Costco for the thyroid meds. As Karen said, you don't have to be a member and you can order them online with free shipping.

On the subject of bad neighbors, I have the best/worst story. My former boss and his wife bought this really nice home on a large lot and spent about $100k to have the backyard landscaped. It was gorgeous!! About a year after they'd bought the house, the neighbor directly behind them took down a whole grove of tall evergreen trees that lined the back fence line. He then had a tennis court put in, complete with the kind of lights you see at a public tennis court. It was a hideous sight to see. Several of the neighbors tried to sue the guy but it never went far and my boss sold the house at a huge loss and moved.

Cathy, what a nightmare that must've been for your former boss!  Unbelievable.  That's when a home owner's association might have helped, at least to control how many trees the guy cut down.  They must've been sick about losing all that money, not to mention having to move all over again!

Interview did not go well.  I bombed the excel skill test, couldn't figure out how to do a certain formula for one of the columns.  I did go into great detail regarding my calendar and schedule management skills, which according to the committee I interviewed with today is about 60% of this position (managing the VP's calendar).  I doubt highly I'll get a call back for an interview with the VP, but either way they told me they're contacting those folks who get round 2 by the end of this week.

Moving along though, where the heck is the sun.  The weather guy said sun for this afternoon.  Dark, dreary, looking like rain any second is NOT sunny!

Also, Ari apparently likes it when I put her in a headlock and give her noogies.  And no, I'm not kidding.  She was driving me nuts this morning as I was printing out materials for my interview, by pushing my arm up and nudging me - so I head locked her and gave her a noogie.  She butt wiggled and got all sorts of happy.  I gave her a few more for good measure lol.  I truly have one weird dog.

I agree and I love having an association and it's rules. They had one too but it didn't include the development that backed up to them :(.

Sharon - I'm so sorry the interview/testing didn't go better but you might be surprised by how well you did compared to other people. I'll keep everything crossed that you get a 2nd interview.

Before I left my old job, I was solicited to take a contract role in the same company in another dept with an open position.  This works out as a way for me to check out the job and them to check out me.  If it works out, I'd consider it.  If it doesn't, well, I've got some income to compliment my severance.

Costco - good to know.  If they ship, that could work.  The closest Costco to here is abt 40 mins away from my friend.  Some peeps are lazy.  ;)

Cathy, your poor boss.  That blows!!  One would think the lights alone could have violated some kind of codes.  Argh.

I just heard about the Costco pharmacy being cheaper on the news the other week. My mom is a member, but I'm not on her card. Though, since I don't need to be a member, I think I'll check out the prices on my allergy meds. I haven't taken them regularly in a while, because $100 a month for all that I need is just not worth it to me.

Our new neighbors play their music so incredibly loud, and late at night (after 9-10 PM on week nights). They have young kids. I've seen them drop the kids off at the elementary school in the mornings at 7 AM some days, so they must go to the before school care program some days at least. If your kids are getting up in time to drop off at 7 AM, your music shouldn't be loud enough for the neighbors to hear at 10 PM. The old neighbor's kids still own it, and are renting it out to these people. One of them was by yesterday, and she asked, so I told her they were incredibly loud late at night. Apparently, they are having a party in two weeks. I might need to go away for the night. The husband manages some sort of team. My mom didn't remember what. We live in a townhouse. It's not really big enough for the type of party they seem to be having. The neighborhood has a clubhouse that you can rent for parties. It's usually fairly cheap. I know some friends of mine rented it for their Halloween party. I don't know what they paid, but I don't think it was much since it wasn't a huge party. Last time we rented it, which was probably 10 years ago though, I think it was $40 for the day.  If you want to have a loud, late night party, go there. Not in your townhouse where the whole street can hear you.

Paige so glad they had something for you to trial!

Unfortunately my vet charges nutty prices for prescriptions so that isn't going to happen. I used to buy generic thyroid stuff for B from Foster & Smith. Generally it was OK but occasionally we had shipping delays and I couldn't get the right dose from other places because the human dosages were different. Anyway once I switched to Costco I was getting soloxine for less than the generic at F&S. As as bonus the soloxine is working better than the levothyroxine. A friend just got some rimadyl from the vet it was a fair whack for 50mg dose, I paid less than half as much for the 100mg dose at Costco and at least at mine they are sooo nice.

OK I knew this would happen - its hot. It has reached 80* in my house now - last week was heat today its AC. Better than 40 and raining though

Man, I hope this wind dies down before someone's tree uproots itself and lands on my roof or my car.  It's hard even being outside. There's a huge section of  town without power, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Even Max doesn't like being out in it.

Jackie, here if your jury duty isn't canceled and you show up, you're done for the year whether or not you get chosen for a jury. I'm expecting/hoping not to hear from them until next February.
