Right before I took the first video he was trembling with desire to chase the squirrel and I was holding my breath LOL

I am still fairly surprised he didn't make a real attempt for it

Wonderful!  So happy, for BOTH of you!  Prayers for continued uneventful healing and recovery!

Awww . . . it's encouraging to see that his drive and enthusiasm are intact -- and what control to resist the temptation to chase!  He must know he's not up to it quite yet.

Is the gait issue just due to post-op pain, or is it also a general weakness that will go away as he builds more strength around the surgical areas?

    You're looking great, Bugsy!!

Thanks all - he is a tough nut. We were told it would take a while before he'd be happy to walk but he's been walking since the morning after :)

I presume both at this point Tracy

He IS in pain and it gets worse as the day moves on but he keeps on walking :)

He has also lost lots of muscle in that leg. I am sure that will take a long time to normalize but each step helps. Additionally the one tendon that they 'released' controls a particular movement and if you watch he sort of slings the lower portion of the leg. I believe that is because the muscles need to adapt to not have the tendon there.

Its so easy to take videos now I will no doubt be taking them along the way to look at the progress and to send to the doctor because he is so far away

Thanks for the added details, Karen.  It really is amazing how the body adjusts to what really is a major invasion, when you think of what surgery really involves!

Another example of how technology can be so incredibly valuable.  Videos of his progress will be so helpful to you and to the vets.

I'm sure you'll be sharing some zoomie videos before you know it!

In all seriousness I have been putting a tee shirt on him when he 'suns'. At this point in the year you can get a serious burn I would feel awful if he wound up burned!

Prayers for a great recovery! whatta dog!

Does Bugsy have a labby component. I had a labX and the vet claimed that by squeezing the labs neck, he could avoid using pain killers. Release of endorphins I guess, along with a high pain threshold. The modified poodle hair cut is stylish. You may start a new fashion.

Good to see him motivating. Doug
