    Sunday Chat

I'm making hash brown nests.  Oh yeah, baby. Big Smile

Lunch was ok but nothing to write home about.  The pie was good but again, not the best I've ever had. lol  We're a tough crowd when it comes to pie and diner food.

We're going to be doing some yard work and dreaming of our tomatoes to come.

Hope you all have a great day.

     Happy Easter everyone!!

Pouring rain here  - which we really need so no complaints. I was up and intending to go to a sunrise service but the rain put me off

    No great plans otherwise

Jackie that makes me sad about the pie. I am a fruit pie enthusiast - well all I want is fruit in a nice pastry shell - so the more simple the better for pies for me. I despise dry-ish fruit pies and no goop just fruit!!

I had a very poor night's sleep and feel a late morning nap coming on!

Just getting up and around here. Sleeping in the tree house was fun. It is misty and chilly here this morning though. I hope it burns off fast.

My mom will probably be upset I am not coming for easter but I am having way too much fun

I'm going to work today. Those are the perks of not celebrating the holiday, and working with people who do not celebrate the holiday. Then later I'm going to my friend's house. We're going to sit around and be sad about the lack of good tv I think. No Once Upon a Time tonight. I think we're making something really gourmet for dinner tonight, like Mac and Cheese and Chicken Nuggets.

The storm came in overnight and although I heard a lot of rain, I didn't hear any of the thunder the news is talking about. It's supposed to taper off mid-day and then get stormy again this afternoon. I was planning to go to 7:30 mass but didn't get up until 7. Embarrassed

The foster volunteer orientation I went to yesterday went way long. We got there at 1ish to set up and didn't leave until after 5 and I didn't get home until almost 6:30. 3 people texted they couldn't make it as we were setting up, so there was only 3 potential fosters in attendance. The farm is gorgeous, so it's not a bad place to hang out on a nice Saturday afternoon but I think it would've been better to have it on a different weekend.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!

I am watching some college basketball - Duke versus U of Louisville ( where I got my undergrad degree). There was one of the worst injuries in any sport I have ever seen near the beginning of the game. Truly awful. Player was for UofL happily it appears that they will win (although there is 6 minutes left which in college hoops is plenty). I pray that young man heals completely.

Bugsy has had much better energy today but still won't let us do the range of motion stuff and has an awful limp. I will take the better energy though and he had a dream filled sleep this afternoon which is the first since I brought him home. Hoping this means the pain is subsiding some.

We went out with some friends earlier which was nice although town was a ghost town. Had a nice ham with some veggies for dinner and that was that.

Hope you all had a lovely holiday

The day before Easter seems like a poor choice of days to hold the volunteer orientation.

With no Once Upon a Time tonight, I went to my friend's house and we made dinner and did some arts and crafts. We started on pajamas for my niece. Well, mostly her. I just pinned pattern pieces to the fabric as she cut them out. They should have a fun next few weeks at her house. Her mom fell down the stairs this morning, and fractured her shoulder. It's her right shoulder, and she is right handed. Also, my friend's father is the typical incompetent man around the house. Severely incompetent. Like he needed help to make himself a bowl of oatmeal. I believe he was already concerned about the dinners for the week. Umm... get to know your local pizza delivery. We have a great local deli. Become acquainted with how to make a sandwich. I know it's not a real dinner for a man, but you know, sometimes you deal. Eat two sandwiches. My friend works kind of odd hours like I do, and she's not usually home at dinner time to make dinner. It also wouldn't bug her to make sure she wouldn't be home so her dad couldn't bug her to do it. Her mom, because she is a woman, and we are self-sufficient that way, and a woman with one arm, even the non-dominant one, could still come up with dinner, even though a man with two functioning arms could not.

Late getting here today.  I feel like I wasted the entire day, but I guess in a good way.  My MIL wasn't feeling very well and not up to getting together for a meal, so for the first time in AGES, we went to someone else's house for a holiday meal.  My friend served a nice brunch for her family.  It was nice to have a gathering early enough in the day so we were home by 1:30.

Another insanely gorgeous day today -- high of 76, sunny.  Other than one load of laundry and vacuuming, I did nothing productive.  I sat in the yard and read, talked to my neighbors, and generally remained lazy.

I heard about that Louisville player's injury, Karen.  I'm so glad I wasn't watching it.  I will never forgot the sight of seeing Joe Theisman's injury when it happened.  I don't want another image like that in my mind's eye.

Jen, I know of a few men like your friend's Dad.  My friend's Mom had surgery years ago and was out of commission for a while.  My friend and her sister had to go back home and get him meals while her Mom recovered.  Another woman I know had to prepare and freeze meals when she went out of town, labeled in containers in the freezer for her husband.

Honestly, in this day and age, there's no excuse for not being able to get your own meals.  Sure, I understand the not cooking thing (I avoid cooking), but like you said, if you can dial a phone, then order pizza or take-out.  And all the major grocery stores have plenty of good things to take home from their prepared foods and deli counters.  I will say that women have some of the blame for this problem by letting the men be that dependent on them.

Watch out for the April Fools jokes tomorrow!
