    Good Friday chat

Yesterday was a tough day, busy, I was crashing, and poor B was in loads of pain. I am so relieved to report that this morning he did his whole flop & roll like a seal routine, carried the newspaper in with a gimpy prance, and is currently destroying the toy I had put it the car for him for the ride home. Until this morning he had only been squeaking it. I should have known he wasn't feeling well lol

The funny part is that it's a Big snake with several soda can size squeakers. The very first piece he took off the toy was a tip for one of the squeakers. Seems he learned a new surgical technique, the hole in the toy was just big enough for that tip. :) arthroscopy by Bugs. The toy is fairly destroyed now.

Very cold 'for here' still. Yesterday morning was mid-20's probably about the same today. We are still about 15* below normal and on record for the third coldest March. It is so strange to not have the trees budding properly, the grasses greening, etc. I spoke to several people yesterday who like me, felt we were about 4-6 weeks behind. I am so praying we don't jump straight to summer!

Have a wonderful East weekend everyone!

    There.  It's started.

All I can say is "thank goodness we made it through the week!"

What's going on with Abbie?  is she ok?

    • Gold Top Dog
Abbies fine! I think we passed our critical Window. What a relief.

From yesterday, what a good boy max :) we had a fatal crash here over the winter that had the freeway shut for 4 hours in 5 degree weather. The police had to call in wreckers to bring people gas and whatnot so they could keep their cars running and keep them heaters going. It sounded pretty awful. I would have had a meltdown no doubt about it.

Another gorgeous day today! Last night was so nice I took the dogs to my normal hiking spot. I normally don't until I know there won't be any shelf ice along the river. There wasn't. The river and pond were back to full (pond was totally empty a few months ago). The dogs went swimming, rolled in a dead turtle and otherwise totally enjoyed themselves. It made me feel better too :)

I have a poker party tonight. Remember a whole back I mentioned the guys at work have guys only poker nights? One of my male coworkers spoke up recently and asked why the women in the office aren't invited. So, myself and 2 others are now in the poker crew. I am totally impressed that he did that. I mean he was breaking a long standing tradition of male cheuvernosm. What a change! he didn't tell me he did that until we went out to lunch one day and I asked him if he was responsible for the invite and he said yes. good man.

    There.  It's started.

Glenda I have to believe you never look to see if another thread is started - once again I will merge this one into the one that was already posted.

This made me LOL! Smart, handsome, and a budding doctor. Is he single?

I suppose I'm being a dork, but 2 threads over an hour apart?

It's not just Good Friday, it's Great Friday! My massage last night was awesome and I get to leave at noon today. WOO HOO!

Just for you Tina - its a poor pic but by the tongue you can see the small tip of the squeaker. :)

Actually, Karen, I always DO look.  I think we just must have been typing at the same time.  Again.

Maybe you need reading glasses. Karen's first post was at 6:49a, yours, 8:02a. Hardly the same, unless you're in different time zones.

We have a busy day off today. I am running some errands this morning and then Riley has to get that puff of air eye test this afternoon. As a reward we are taking her to an indoor playground so she can run her butt off for a few hours ;-)

In Glenda defense, when I hit the not read button (which is how I always visit these forums) Karen post did not show up in the list. Only Glenda. Might be a bug in the system. Wouldn't be the first one.

       Phew!!

PS, is your poker party coworker single and dateable? ;)

I read yesterday's last post about Max staying in the house while the workers were picking up tree limbs.  What a good boy!!!  (Thank goodness, too!!!)

I filed my taxes on Sunday night and I have my refund today.  Way to go IRS and electronic filing!

I saw bright blue sky on my drive in to work today.  HOOOORAAY for a good day for all!!

I'm glad to hear Bugsy is feeling so much better this morning!

Julie, have fun at poker night.  Your coworker's speaking up is really impressive.

I'm only working half a day today and I don't plan to work too hard during that half. lol

Good boy, Max.  My dogs would have been outside helping with the project and then they might or might not have taken off on an adventure.  Yesterday they tore up two bags of potting soil and scattered it everywhere.  Two big bags.  I asked who was in charge of that caper but they're not saying.  Gabby was in the house so I know it wasn't her but she would have been knee deep in the fun if she'd been outside.

My cucumbers are sprouting and the tomato plants look great.  I talked to a friend in TN and she said the same as you, Karen.  No trees budding and mid 20's there this morning.  I feel lucky that we haven't gotten too hot here yet.  Still having mild days and coolish nights.

Paige, glad you saw bright blue skies and got your refund.  :)

Good to hear Bugsy is returning to normal, I think. Dogs and toys are so different. Rags and Bear, the dogs I had about 10 years ago, could wreck a toy by looking at it. They spent time in a kennel, and anything soft left in the kennel would be shredded. I put a new rug cover on the doghouse door, and they had it torn up before I got back to the house. Piper has toys that have been around for years. She tosses them, licks them, sorts through them, and very carefully squeezes the squeekers. They do get grungy (handle with plastic gloves) but not torn up.

Went with my wife to a Maundy Thursday dinner at church last night. Apparently we have a professional chef in the membership. Onion soup to kill for, great salad, and Chicken Kiev as a main course. May have to go to more church events. We expected a free will offering, but didn't happen. The pastor paid out of his own pocket. The dinner is a first at this church, but the new pastor feels it is an important event.

Get to write a check to Uncle Sam today. Should be big. Wifes' inheritance included a taxable portion, but the whole amount is in a bank account. I was reading a post on another forum where the writer was complaining about paying $48000 in taxes. I wish my income was so high that I had to pay that much.

What is this "refund" you write about?

What is this "refund" you write about?

It's like an annual forced savings account mixed with a mystery grab bag/box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get.

I need glasses.  I was certain you wrote that there's a professional chief in your church membership and I immediately envisioned a Native American.  Don't ask me why.  I haven't had my coffee yet.

So, what are the Easter plans?  Anyone doing an egg hunt with little ones?
