Maureen -- I think forgetting your aunt's name is entirely understandable, given the background you described. Heck, my mother will rattle off a whole list of names when she's trying to get someone's attention. Many a time I heard her say something like, "Jean . . . Chris . . . Sue . . . for God's sakes, I mean TRACY -- will you bring me my glasses, please?" Both her sisters did the same thing, and I'm sure I'll hear myself do it one of these days (since I hear myself say so many other things my mother says)! Edited to add: the names she used were all members of the family -- not just random names!
I remember running into a woman in the grocery store once -- I knew her instantly, and she knew who I was -- we exchanged pleasantries for a couple minutes, I asked about her dogs, she asked about ours, then we said goodbye. I never used her name and she never used mine -- I only knew her as "Woody and Brandy's mom from the dog park." I know we introduced ourselves once or twice before, but no way could I remember her name, and my guess is she didn't remember mine either!
Cathy, having been to a number of board meetings from hell myself, I think it's miraculous that Shane did as well as he did for 4 hours!
