    iDog Family Vacation 2013!!

    YOU ARE INVITED!!

We are planning the iDog family vacation for 2013. Last year we went to Belize and had an absolutely AMAZING time. This year we are planning a hiking/backpacking trip at the Porcupine Mountains in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Those of us who are close enough to drive are bringing our dogs (Julie and Neiko, Candace and Jedi, me and Rupert). But we definitely welcome you without your dog! I totally understand because Rupert would die of loneliness and fright if I put him in a crate in the baggage area of an airplane.

We are staying in a rustic cabin at the Porkies. It is planned for the 3rd week in July, depending on cabin availability. We are looking at a cabin with 4 bunks, so we need to know pretty soon if there will be more coming. I'm thinking we can set up tents outside also if needed, or use camping pads/cots in the cabin.

    Yay Glenda! Big Smile

I forgot to mention, the cabins are hike-in. The one we're looking at (Section 17) is about a mile hike, I think. However, there is an AmericInn hotel that is just a few miles down the road. So that's an option if there are some who don't want to stay at the cabin. There is also a campground and an RV campground.

Wow, what an awesome place to camp. I'm sure I won't make it but it does look like a great time will be had by all. I'd be wanting to see how many waterfalls I could photograph.

I can't go - although there may be a slight chance but I would motel it; however, if there are idoggers driving in from out of state or coming in at the Detroit airport I am more than willing to host a cocktail hour in the Detroit area!!!

I keep reading this post over and over and there's something I just can't figure out, but I'm a little slow.  Can someone point out to me where, exactly, the cabana boys are on this vacation??

Deb, trust me when I tell you that you don't want to see Michigan bred cabana boys, esp. if they are from the U.P.

He doesn't have a beer gut and isn't wearing a "wife beater" tee, so in a word, no.

***shudders*** at the pic of the first guy.  That one scares me worse than the thought of seeing a bear appear on the trail. lol
