I went out with my mom and my niece for lunch. After lunch, we went to go get in the car and go over to Petsmart a bit, just because she likes to look at the pets. My mom's car wouldn't start, so I ended up walking to Petsmart with my niece. We ended up there for an hour and a half until we could get someone to 1) answer my phone 2) pick my mom up 3)take her home to the other car so she could pick us up. We couldn't go with the tow truck, because they didn't have room for all 3 of us, including the car seat. My mom had some delusional idea of holding her on someone's lap. I said absolutely not. I also figured she would be better off if we walked over to Petsmart, and were not there when the car got taken away. A few weeks ago, my mom dropped me off to get my allergy shots, and they went to Target. On their way back to pick me up, she got a flat tire. My niece flipped out when the guy at the tire place took the car. She loves Petsmart anyway, and spent the whole walk over there going, "pets, pets." Of course, I had to cancel work for this afternoon because we had no idea when we would be able to get a ride. Till we got home, I probably would have been able to rush over, but oh well.

I can't believe how crazy hot it is here. We either have or will break a record for most days over 90 in September. I think we've had 24 and it won't be below that for the next few days.

I woke up at 2 AM thinking about food. If it had been closer to midnight, I'd have gotten up and had a snack but instead I just laid there for an hour thinking about stuff I wanted to buy at the grocery store. I went early and came home and made an egg casserole and then made some ranch dressing potatoes and now have a pork tenderloin cooking. I wanted to get everything cooked before it got hot outside but I missed that already. Oh well, at least we'll have meals ready for the next few days.

Tracy - I'm glad I'm not the only one who sometimes gets out of bed thinking about how soon I can get back in Sleep

Tracy - I'm glad I'm not the only one who sometimes gets out of bed thinking about how soon I can get back in Sleep

It makes me think I'm aiming to sleep my life away, but when you're not a morning person (and you don't go to bed as early as you should), I never wake up feeling eager to get out of bed (except maybe on a Saturday or Sunday when I've had 8+ hours of sleep).

Joyce, as much as I complain about our short summers here, I'm thankful we don't have long stretches of 90+ degrees like you and Cathy are having now.  It's officially autumn now.  That's just too hot!

Jen, I'm glad your niece was in the mood to walk to PetSmart.  If she was having one of those toddler moments where they don't want to walk and want to be carried the whole way, you would've had a work-out!  Your story about her flipping out when the tire guy took the car reminds me of when our friend got out of a speeding ticket because when the officer came to the car window, both her kids started bawling.  He took pity on her and gave her a warning!

Oh my...... I have just returned from a trip with a friend's husband. Long story is we both bought some Living Social deal that was for a 90" kayak trip on a local river. His wife decided she didn't want to go and DH is away so we decided to ditch them and do it. Well.......this guy is always saying he used to whitewater kayak and can't be bothered to go on the lake etc. I am sure you know the type, too good for everything. So turns out he isn't terribly capable - he freaking tipped the boat 2X just trying to get in - in a foot of water! I had already started floating down the river and looked back to see him struggling so I paddled back to help. Then he was so impossibly slow, holy crap I hardly ever paddled - not exaggerating - I just sort of floated down the river. I felt bad but I seemingly couldn't go slow enough to stay near him.

Anyway we finished up and then on the ride home he decided I was a captive audience so he tried to 'educate' me about politics - we are diametrically opposed when it comes to politics. Anyway what should have been enjoyable was miserable. Thank goodness its over!

Meanwhile DH texted me he is out on Cape Fear (Wilmington, NC) in a police boat - 600 horsepower!

I intend on having a very relaxing evening with my Bugsy-doodle (nickname one of the neighborhood kids gave him)

Joyce I was so sorry to hear of your fall - I hope you are feeling better!

It seems very warm here - super humid again, blech!

Wow.  I'd hate to see him whitewater kayak!  I'm very much a novice when it comes to kayaking (I only kayak lakes) so I do have trouble getting in and out of the kayak lol.  It's actually vastly amusing to anyone near to me to witness the spectacle.  I'm happy to entertain :)  Normally my trouble is getting OUT of the kayak not in, though.  I inevitably end up doing a split (of which I'm not physically capable of doing, so can we say OUCH) and end up falling either butt first or face first into the water.  Stick out tongue

So sorry to hear it wasn't a great time.  I love to get out on the water and wish I did more so than I did this season.

I start bawling when the officers approach but they never have any pity on me. Wink  To be honest, I've only had one speeding ticket my entire life and that was when I was rushing to see my mom in the hospital and that was almost thirty years ago.  I didn't care about the ticket and just told the policeman to hurry up which probably wasn't the smartest thing to say to him.

More work drama. Sad Tina, aren't you in charge around here??  Where is our Tiki bar drink?

ETA Karen, you should have left him behind, on the lake and in the car.  Unless he was driving.  Geez, makes you glad to put up with your own husband and his quirks when you see what others are dealing with sometimes.  We go out with this one couple sometimes and when I see their interaction it just amazes me they stay together but I guess to each his own.  Thank God. lol

Its OK I enjoy going out on the lake fairly regularly so although the change of scenery was nice it was really wasn't a super nice place to paddle anyway.

Jackie sorry work is not going well - it is however Friday and closing in on 5 pm

The one speeding ticket I got was years ago.  Two friends and I were driving to Sturbridge Village (in MA), and we decided it would be fun to wear jester hats and sing along to a cassette of children's songs (we weren't drunk, just big dorks).  Yes, I was speeding about 10 mph over the interstate limit, but I think the trooper pulled me over because of the hats.  I didn't think tears would help the situation, so off I went with a very expensive ticket!

Karen, it's too bad the guy didn't try to convert your politics while you were kayaking --- you could've paddled quickly away and left him to fend for himself on the water.  I bet he realized how foolish he looked in the kayak after bragging about his experience, so he had to bring up politics so he could get back in the position of authority he delusionally thinks he has!

hehe!  Just took a moment to come see if Tina (who is in charge) had opened the Tiki Bar yet?  Either great minds think alike .....or .....there are too many of us that are having a "crabby" day :)

Loved the story about the Kayak Karen and Tracy ooops it was Sharon that was doing the splits , lol that story made me laugh...thank you

ETA: typing...or spelling and Sharon's split story :)

Shockingly, we actually had a stroller with us, and she was actually willing to ride in it over to Petsmart. It wasn't far from where we were to Petsmart, maybe 5 minutes, but it would have probably been 20 if she walked. She did get out and walk around Petsmart and Ace Hardware almost the entire time.

Ginger, I assure you, if you saw me attempting a split, with or without a kayak involved, you'd laugh at that, too!!

    Jen, yay for the stroller!

Oh, geez, I'm so lame I forgot. Rounds of everyone's favorite adult beverage, on the house.

(maybe Deb will fire me now. I can hope.)
