    DOG RUNS/ENCLOSURES

I intend to build runs for my dogs, these runs are intended mostly for when I have to embark on long trips and am unable to take each and everyone of my beloved dogs (20).  I have two large garages (colourbond) which are already concreted and would like to build separate enclosures in there with appropriate insulation as it does get scorching hot in summer and terribly cold in winter, I would also have to think of using a type of insulation that works accoustically to control the noise of barking.

Any suggestions on how to go about building the runs...for example..what materials to use, what type of wire you recommend can withstand a strong dog from breaking through?   Please help!

I have no experience building large series of runs, but my dad and I build two indoor/outdoor runs for our dogs for vacations. We used our detached garage for the inside parts which were regular chain link kennel panels topped with mesh fencing (1" by 2" mesh) and about 10ft by 5ft each. We threw some carpet remnants on the concrete, added dog loos to each inside run and voila! - nice indoor accomonations that pick up dirt so the dogloos stay clean. The exterior part was similarly made of chainlink dog kennel panels and toped with wire mesh as described previously, but the flooring was clay with poly coated chicken wire and covered with pea gravel (about 6 to 8" deep). The bottom of each run is lined w/ treated wood boards to prevent dogs from pulling up the chain link and keep the gravel in when it rains.
