    Discounts

Do any of you know if a vet would consider any discounts on a litter of puppies for a breeder?Like spay/n. for the future owners?  I want to ask but if there's a chance of them laughing then I'll just not ask. And what is a contract for spay/n. for the future puppy owners?

Hmm....some vets have a group discount for breeders, on things like shots, flea meds, and wormings...but I don't know about surgeries. I think that it's more up to the breeder to make it easy for the owner to s/n the pup...via deposit paid back when it's done, or a lower cost for pet quality pups right at the beginning. A few breeders I know of s/n right at 8 weeks and send the pups home at 10 weeks. That is sadly the only REAL way to make 100% sure  it gets done...you have to be pretty hardcore to do that...and I'm not there yet...[;)]

ALL my pet pups go out with a contract that states they MUST be s/n and proof of such sent to me by age 6 months...or the entire contract including all guarantees on health and temperament are void, and specified monetary damages are due me. Every breeder is different...as far as when/how/what if situations.

It does depend on the vet.  Some many see it as a money opportunity, get 5 to come in at 25% off and make more than if just one came in alone.  Other vets are all for s/n and strongly believe that all dog should be s/n so they would be willing to give a discount if that means more s/ners.  Most vets I know of will give group discounts but it varies on the location of the vet as well.  Then you will have other vets who will simply not budge on their prices.

Call around and ask, don#%92t see how you could get embarrassed over the phone if they have no idea who you are.
