She went into heat the DAY of the appointment.  Geez take it easy.  She's looking for help dealing with this, not condemnation for not being able to predict the exact date of her girl's heat.  Holy Mackerel.

This is a really common situation. Unless you're going to do an early spay, it's a bit of a lottery when your 6-9 month old puppy is going to get her first heat. And I've read enough similar accounts that I'm starting to think that bitches somehow know when their spay appointments are and decide to go into heat that day, because it happens all the time. If you're a responsible pet owner there's no reason to do an early spay, which does carry some risk.

I agree. I think that most of us on this board are responsible pet owners and i know that I am NOT going to let my dog get pregnant so there is no reason to be so hostile.

I can't wait till she can cuddle with me again!

I'd want to make sure she gets cuddling anyway. Imagine a whole new change in your body AND no cuddles from mon. Wrap her up in a towel if you have to. I use baby's disposable diapers and onesies and it works great - though only for small dogs.

I'm NOT talking about the ORINGINAL POSTER.

I was talking to the other person complaining about the same problem.

It doesn't matter, there's no reason for your hostile tone.  Neither of the posters had said that they are not planning on getting their dogs spayed, just that their dogs had gone into heat.

Life has a funny way of throwing these things at people, even under the best of circumstances.  A person follows their vet's recommendations (spay at a certain age) and you finally make the appointment and *WHAM* right between the eyes- your bitch goes into heat.  It happened to me only 2 months after Gaia's false pregnancy, actually 7 weeks to the day.  The vet's recommendation was for me to wait 8-12 weeks until getting the procedure done.  At 7 weeks she went into a full blown heat.

Had I come here for advice and gotten blasted, I'd have been pretty ticked and pretty hurt.  And before you say "why wasn't she spayed well before all of this?"  She was a breeder rescue.  I've had her since September.

Compassion is a powerful thing, especially when someone else has been hit by unforeseen circumstances.  Or just be angry at me for calling you on it, don't take it out on the other posters.

    LOL, whatever. It's over with
