Making up for Sunday- Monday chat

Hey Everyone! Yeah, I'm really here. Working at a new job with lots of downtime but no Facebook - blah! Monroe and Morrison are both doing well although Monroe is showing his age and this heat and humidity is not good for him. He was diagnosed with esophogial paralysis (the flap at the back of his throat doesn't work properly) so when he pants it is made worse. Other than heavy panting all is well. The humans are good too, DH is the same as ever and DS changes every single day. It will be almost a year soon - WOW! TTFN

Well you do have me convinced that it needs servicing. I am going to take care of that this week or next. I never thought of having the duct work cleaned out but that is a great idea too. With 3 dogs god knows what it looks like. They do track in tons of dirt hair and dust.

Is it totally horrible that i got some satisfaction out of telling the lady who was holding her unleashed fufu dog not to set it down near my dog because my dog hates other dogs? Abbie doesn't hate all dogs of course and she was totally ignoring the fufu dog but I have a huge dislike for people who bring unleashed dogs into public places (this happened today as I dropped my dogs off to be groomed) . The look on the ladies face was priceless. I think I am bad.

Eta: this heat must be really hard on Monroe! Sorry to hear that. Good to see you though!

Hey Everyone! Yeah, I'm really here.
Hey you!! *waving* Good to see a post from you. :)

    $100,000 for a dog??? Yikes!!

Count us in with those who've never had their AC or heating unit serviced. We should probably do it with these 2 older humongous units. DH can be penny wise and pound foolish though, so convincing him won't be easy. He was cutting some branches on one of the trees today and I swear I thought he was going to die. He was on an extension ladder with a very long pole with a saw at the end and having to reach very far out. I mentioned that we could hire a tree-trimming service and he just laughed. I pointed out that it would be cheaper than him getting hurt and being out of work but that fell on deaf ears too.

Karen - I'm really sorry that your SIL is dealing with a recurrence of her cancer and they're dealing with the house troubles too. I'll keep them all in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi to Sarah, Van Morrison, and Monroe!

Cathy, your DH and my DH must be related.  This very conversation (he'd call it nagging) has happened many times in our house.  Just yesterday, for example, when he was standing on the top part of the ladder (where it clearly says DO NOT STAND) to change a light bulb.  What is it with these guys???  Stubborn!

"Penny-wise and pound-foolish" ---- my mother's version is "picking up pennies when there are dimes around."  Big Smile

Nice to "see" Sarah posting.  Sorry about Monroe's woes but hopefully it's manageable.

We got some really strong storms through earlier.  More expected.  I guess Karen finally figured out how to send her rain our way.  Keep it up but don't overdo it. :)

My DH sent me a cartoon the other day that said "If a man talks in the forest and his wife isn't there, is he still wrong?".  lol  Um, yeah, probably.  Wink

I laugh at your DH stories!!!! Mine is at least as bad. I recall when he 'built' something to put on the stairs so he could put this ginormous ladder on it to paint the foyer and also when we changed the chandelier. Mind you the ladder said 250lbs max and DH is typically in and about that - so add the huge chandelier and he was way over! Of course my job was to hold the ladder- I did remind him of the weight limit AND that I was of no use if it all came crashing down. I mean what was I going to do? Catch him?

Now we have a dead pine tree, probably 50ft tall and he said last weekend, I think I'll take that down today!?????? What???? Shaking my head.

    Jackie that is pretty funny!

SARAH!!!!! So good to see you! I am sorry to hear of Monroe's diagnosis, I think Kate's Sinbad had that so she may have some input for you - love to M&M and to DS & DH. I can't believe it's almost been a year!

Just wow about the $100k dog. Torn Achilles? Twice? Done :(

Thanks for all the well wishes for my SIL. I am praying the chemo works and that the storm money comes soon. The stress they are all living with isn't helping anyone.

     waving Hi to Sarah --

David's got an even worse schedule than I thot -- whatever time he gets done this evening (and it's 7:15 and he's still AT work) ... he has to be back there at 1:00 a.m.  Poor guy -- he works so hard.

But rah -- I've been super productive since I got home!! I'm on a roll!!

I dropped my car off at the shop, and we'll see what the mechanic says. I was trying to not work on Friday, but so much for that now. I changed some stuff around so I could get it in tomorrow, and have it looked at before I leave on Friday. Oh well, I'll be done in plenty of time before we leave.

Julie my brother's house was all but lost in super storm Sandy. They have all been promised FEMA $ and ar also due insurance payouts but no one has paid out yet, so he has used everything they had plus took a loan out ( to be repaid once they got the payout) to do as much as possible but they have no $ now until the payout :(

This makes me so sad and angry. I'm sure it happens after many or all natural disasters and we don't hear about it. It's just sooo wrong :(

I wondered if it was fema money. That could take a long time.
