Sunny Thurs

    Sunny Thurs

I hope it is sunny for the rest of you. Especially Karen who seems to be water logged and sun deprived! After our front moved thru yesterday the weather returned to perfect and we have 5 days ahead of us of pure sun. I get to spend most of my day outdoors today which will be nice. I have a 2 hr drive to start the day though. Oh well. I did a practice test with abbie last night and the little stinker made her find in the first minute then decided she did not want the fun to end so she never told me about it. *frustrated *. If she ever becomes reliable again we will be certified. I thought we were there until last night. Gah. Why can't dogs be easy? Now we have to go back to indication stations this week.

    Yep, sunny here!

Got the majority of my invoices entered. I was told the upgrade would start in the afternoon, but the tech arrived about 15 minutes ago, so I'll have to amuse myself with other work.

The rain and heat have been great for my tomato plants which have numerous green tomatoes on them. I can't wait to be able to pick and eat the little pear tomatoes - they are an addiction!

Crying No its just another overcast, humid, wet day Tongue Tied I can't handle much more!

I need to write a post under behavior or training - I am trying to get B to work on a wobble board but as per usual he is WAY to enthusiastic and it becomes dangerous fast. Sigh

I still feel awful - that darn doctor had best be right! I have a zillion things to do today and really need the grass to dry a bit so I can mow. DH was going to do it last night but, guess what? it stormed again. Sigh

That's all I suppose - I am glad to see that NC politics are getting national exposure for how corrupt and backward they have become since the new governor came in. This I guess is what happens when one party controls EVERYTHING. They are just doing whatever they want.

My hand, which has had issues for several years, has been hurting again the last few weeks. I'm terrified to do anything. I'm worried they'll jack up my insurance rates. I honestly said at the time I got it that it was no longer am issue. It hadn't been for a while at that point. I'm also worried about another EMG (they put needles in the test the nerves). I'm not as scared of needles, but I am still terrified of that test.

Karen, I'm sorry you're not feeling any better.  I too hope that doc knows what he's doing.  Dealing with the medical profession on any level can be so frustrating.

Jen, it's sad that you can't get your hand checked for fear your insurance rates will go up.  Our rates at work are going up 30% when we renew in September and we're told they will go even higher when the Healthcare legislation kicks in next year.  :)

Tina, if they ever get you back on the computer, you're in for some laughs. :)

I'm going to start helping with the TNR program for a small shelter near my office.  Bugsy, do you want to help? lol   They got a grant from Petsmart and this money will provide spay/neuter for 1600 feral cats.  I'm sort of torn about the whole TNR idea but at least the cats aren't reproducing.  I do wonder what I'm supposed to do if I trap a skunk.  I'm not transporting a skunk and releasing one from a trap isn't an option either.

Boy, do I know what you mean by that, Karen!

I hope you're feeling better soon.  It's no fun to feel really lousy yet still have a ton of things to do, when you really just want to lie down and do nothing too strenuous.

Hope all goes well with the system tweaking, Tina.  Those IT things often spiral into something much more time consuming than initially planned.

Jen, I'm sorry your hand is bothering you and that you've got the worry about if/how you'll get medical attention.  Insurance worries really are a bummer.  I know so many people (including me and DH) who might make changes in their jobs or life plans if they weren't so concerned about losing health insurance, especially as we get older.

Jackie, I know the TNR programs can be controversial; I've heard many discussions about the good and bad points during my time as a volunteer at our local shelter.  It's really hard to know what the perfect solution is for feral/community cats, but as you said, I always fall back to the basic need to prevent additional population growth, so spay/neuter efforts seem like a good idea until/unless the population is controlled some other way.

Two of three main bosses will be out today and tomorrow, so things should be quiet.  However, I have a long list of things I need to do, some of them not my favorite tasks!

It was so cool this morning it felt like the ac was on, except I knew it wasn't. Hopefully the cooling trend will continue. Max has a little collection of yogurt cartons scattered here and there.  When I'm finished, I give him the carton to lick clean and now there's about 6 of them in the middle of the living room,. Smile

Cathy, re: your pool.  Mine is about 3-1/2 ft. on the shallow end and about 8-1/2 ft. on the deep end and the only times I've ever been in it was once before it was ever filled and again when it was drained for cleaning/repairs. That way at least I can say I was in the deep end. Wink

Ruby likes to "clean" yogurt containers, too!

Joyce, how is your recovery going?  Do you have to go to physical therapy or anything like that?  Actually, maybe they'd tell you that some gentle movement in your pool might be therapy you could do right at home!

Shane loves licking the yogurt container too. It's the only thing that will make him actually drool while he's waiting for you to finish.

Karen - I'm so sorry you're feeling so crappy. I hope you feel better soon.

Gorgeous day here and only supposed to be about 90. After the 100+ days we've been having, it'll feel wonderful.

The pool guys worked all day yesterday sandblasting the old gunite off and prepping it for the new stuff. They wanted to replaster it tomorrow but DH has ordered new lights and they won't arrive until Monday. We really didn't think the process would go this quickly. Now that we've asked them to delay it a few days, it'll probably be Sept. before we see them again - LOL! I was disappointed that the tile didn't clean up nicer but we've really gone for the least expensive process possible, so I didn't have super high expectations. Just having a clean looking pool will be a huge improvement.

Cathy, I'm sure none of us will mind if the tiles aren't perfect when we come over for the iDog pool party and BBQ!  Wink

Karen, sorry to hear your still not feeling well and are water logged to boot!  We finally have the sun peeking out and it is a welcome sight.

I'm so happy that my boss is on board with training our new office assistant to eventually become the scheduler.  The two of us just can't keep up with everything!  It's nice to be busy because we're getting new clients, but it's been pretty ridiculous just the two of us trying to run everything.  I hope the new girl works out, otherwise me and the boss might be looking for available rooms in the looney bin Stick out tongue

It's been a crazy week and a half.  Ari ended up with a massive skin irritation on her stomach and her genital area.  It ended up becoming infected quickly (because of her licking it) and she's been sporting the cone of shame, on antibiotics and medicated cream.  It's looking a lot better, but she also had a day where she was suddenly limping around.  It hasn't happened since, but with the recent Lyme diagnosis we're keeping a close eye on things.  I can't wait until she can be out of that cone, my legs are bruised from her running into me with it!

I ended up getting bit by some sort of bug on my throat last week, that swelled giving me a half double chin look.  Then I ended up scratching it in my sleep and took off at least a layer of two of skin, which was pretty.  Then a bug bit me behind the ear, scratch that by mistake at work yesterday, opened it up and started bleeding profusely.  Very attractive!  My skin condition that I have has also flared up badly, so my skin is discolored looking, flaky and itching like mad.  Between the dog and I, we're just a family of skin woes right now!

Ok, that was way more than I intended on typing lol.  Back to work for me!

Wow Sharon - it does sound like you and Ari are having a rough time. I hope you both heal up quickly. Sorry that work is still so crazy. I know the feeling.

Tracy - I saw this article about a young lab getting sick and dying from blue green algae and thought of you. I don't think this is too far from you, right?

Have you ever had one of those days (or weeks!) where you just want to yell, "I DON'T WANNA!" then crawl back into bed? Tongue Tied I am so swamped it's ridiculous.

    Ok, back to work. *sigh*

I think I did most of the things I needed to today. If not, ah well.

Tracy DH & I discuss moving back overseas due to health insurance issues. It's such a ridiculous situation. I purchase my own and I guess as a single person - DH gets his through work - I must be in a pool with high risk, sick people because I pay 2/3 of what a friend of mine pays for her family. Both she and her spouse are older than I am and they have a 12 yr old. I have been warned that it will rocket higher next year. I am thinking of dropping it and going with an HSA.

It's raining. What's new. 3-4 more inches due through Sunday. 26 days of rain in the 'viewing area' according to the CBS station. Flash flooding alert, blah blah blah.

My hair dresser does a great job but the shop was quiet today so I was there nearly 2 hours!

I'm sure they can't directly jack up my rates because of that, but I'm sure with Obamacare coming in, my rates will get jacked so I can pay for the people who are now going to be forced to get insurance. One of the companies I work for does offer full time positions with benefits. If I really needed to do it, and they thought I'd need anything serious, I'd go ask about switching into one of those jobs. The company just got a new contract, and they will be hiring several people with my qualifications to fill those spots. It'd be far from me, but it would be regular work hours, so it's an option if I need it. I'm thinking it might have to do with seeing a certain kid so much, because he grabs at my hands (and scratches, so I have to keep escaping his hands, though now I chopped his nails short so it doesn't hurt and I can totally ignore it). I usually only see him 2 days a week, for a total of 7 hours. While he's been out of school, I've seen him a ton. After Sunday, I won't see him until August 4th, since I'll be away the next two weekends for flyball tournaments. Hopefully giving it a bit of a rest helps. I'll still see all the others, but only one other kid is aggressive at all.

Speaking of aggressive kids... I love when parents lie to me. I can tell when there is something up with your kid, whether you want to tell me or not. I know what he's usually like. Also, when you leave things sitting around, it's really obvious.
