    Happy 4th of July!

Or for those of us in the US, INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Big change...hot and humid here again today.  I get about an 8-10 minute visitation with my ankles in the mornings before they go away.  I'm getting forgetful, which I'm blaming on the heat.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Happy 4th of July from RI! It's going to be hot here today, and humid, too. Our little island parade gets to our house around 11. It's done by 11:10. Smile

Thank you to all who serve and have served the country.

    Absolutely!! Happy 4th of July!!

Day 7 of temps over 100 degrees. Supposed to be in the mid 90s tomorrow. I wonder if it'll feel much different. I'm drinking some coffee to wake up and then I plan to go do a bit of gardening before it heats up too much. I have a tri-tip I want to bbq but I doubt being outside grilling this afternoon will be much fun. I'm just looking forward to having the day off and hoping to relax a bit. Hope everyone has a great day!

    Happy independence day :)

Today is going to be beautiful. I'm just going to be fixing things doing laundry and packing. Should be relaxing :)

Oh how I miss tri tips!  The closest Trader Joe's is more than an hour away, and not even sure they carry those here.  Seems to be a western thing.

I cheated and did NOT go to the parade today.  I normally go and help DH, but the humidity is killing me and being out in it for hours on end, waiting 2 plus hours sitting there waiting for the parade to start.......no thanks.  Will do the radio station "night at the ballpark" this evening, but, for now, I'm just relaxing for a change!

    Off to pick the garden.

Oh, and I second, third or fourth, thanks to our military men and women!

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday!  I'm just keeping busy getting the house in order for my company, which arrives tomorrow.  It will be fun to see them all!  I made a big lasagna which will be easy to pop in the oven, and bought a frozen peach cobbler from the local peach packing comany.  So maybe I will have a chance to talk with them a bit!

Marty, I want to come to your place for lasagne and peach cobbler! Yumm! I hope you do get to enjoy the crew rather than work too hard in the kitchen!

Set a place at the table for me, too!  That sounds like a delicious meal.

Cathy, I don't know how you guys are getting through so many days of oppressive heat like that.  We had 4 days of high-90's and I felt like all I did was stay inside where there was A/C.  Yesterday it was a little cooler, and today it's going to be fantastic -- not expected to surpass 80.  Our neighbors are hosting a BBQ -- they're cooking beef and fish, and the rest of us are bringing side dishes.  It'll be a feast, I'm sure.

Luckily they're only 2 driveways away, so we'll be able to come back and forth and bring Ruby over for short visits (if she behaves!).  She barks a ton at the sound of all fireworks, even just the small popping ones, so we'll want to be in the house with all the windows closed and TV blaring before dark.  Neighbors light off all kinds of fireworks nearby, then there's a professional display right down the hill at a golf course, so she'll be worked up all night.

Wishing everyone a Happy Independence Day!

I was having a pretty good day until I heard some upsetting news.  A dog I've never met was put down today because the idiot person who found the dog (JRT) allowed the dog and her cat to interact without knowing anything about the dog.  The dog and cat fought and the idiot person was severely bitten by her cat and the dog was destroyed.   This person brags about her dog skills and experience and yet she takes in a breed of dog that she obviously knows nothing about and allows it to get into this situation and then kills the dog.  Run free little terrier.  I'm sorry you were "rescued" by such an idiot.

OK, that's all from here.  I'm going back to bed.

Oh man Jackie, that is horrible news. You don't expect to hear that kind of thing from anyone who knows ANYthing about dogs. Frankly, I don't expect to hear about a dog being pts unless it's truly dangerous and there's no chance for remediation or it's terminal and/or suffering physically. What a sad outcome. I'm so sorry :(

I probably lost 5 lbs in sweat and finally caved and used some Roundup. There are huge areas where I can't even tell what it's supposed to look like because it's so overrun by weeds. DH has been working on the pool equipment for the last 3 hrs and I'm worried about him overheating, so I keep checking on him and taking him water. We knew there was a lot of work to be done but we didn't count on doing it in this heat. We don't have to but some things are hard to ignore, especially when the pool equipment isn't working :(

Thanks Cathy.  I'm sorry the brutal heat had to hit when you guys need to work outside.  I don't blame you for resorting to Roundup for the weeds.  Spray the hubs down with the water hose if he gets too hot. Wink

Oh Jackie - how awful, and particularly for you missing Twister.

I think Charlie could have his own weather show - if this dog sez it's gonna rain -- it IS about to rain (within literally about 2 mintues!).  He doesn't just generally know if "it's going to rain" -- he can pinpoint for you exactly when the evil drops will fall from the sky!!

I bought a little set of shelves for the bathroom which, of course, has morphed into organizing more than just that. Confused How is it that some jobs just lead to others?  I'm laughing - I figured this would happen.but at least I like what I got!
