The 5:30 dog alarm went off-about 1 yip per minute. Amazingly disturbing, especially on Sat morn. The heat broke a bit. Thursday was interesting. High heat, high humidity, and full sun shine. Kind of like getting hit with a hot club. I had a service call out on the prairie. A beautiful drive, with everything green and lush. Then, forgetting I had been in air conditioning, I got out of the truck. My shirt and shorts were drenched with my sweat almost immediately, and a little nausea crept in. Then, back in the truck for another hour to cool down. Then, three hours of work in a boiler room re plumbing a pump that had run dry overnight and melted PVC pipes, among other things. The access door was open to let cool air in -the cool air was 94ºF. Some people pay good money to enjoy steam rooms. It is a fringe benefit for me.
Back to the prairie Friday. Saw a small doe with a really small fawn. They stopped on the dirt road I was driving, and I stopped to watch. About the time I got my window down and my cell into camera mode, all you could see was the white flag from the doe and a really small white flag from the fawn heading across the field. MN in the spring is beautiful. Summers, beautiful but hot.
With all the pot holes flooded this year, the geese and ducks look to have some large broods running arounds.
Had to shorten up Pipers walks. She never has dealt well with heat. She is eager to start, but is really dragging on the home stretch. And as a sign of age, where she used to run and chase birds or squirrels, now, after a little sniffing, she just falls in at heel and looks. She enjoys the walk, but more as an observer. Now we just saunter along. Of course, as I am getting older, I have slowed down and enjoy sauntering more than power walking, so it works out.
I was at the barber (not a hair stylist-an old time barber shop for men only) and noticed that with my head of white hair growing long, and my habit of wearing a hat, my long white hair had a nice flip. I looked like one of the founding fathers wearing a powdered wig. Very picturesque, but now cut much shorter.
Anyway, soon as the rain stops, time for a walk.
