    Guess the breed

Okay guys, I need your help figuring this one out. This is Taz, a hound mix that's available for adoption with Hope for Animals in Thibodaux, LA. Before I start networking him on FB rescue groups, I want to have a better idea of what he may be. These are his recent pictures. I met him today, and he definitely has hound in him. His body structure resembles Junior's (my coonhound), he bays, and he even stands upright like Junior does when he's treeing imaginary objects. lol His ears are not super long, and his head is kind of skinny. His coat is also a light fawn-like color with a black saddle-like pattern on his back. Any ideas?      hound/brown dog mix Wink -- maybe some german shepherd in there ... but you're safe with "hound".  He's got ears like my Luna -- very expressive but not bloodhound long -- beagle-long

Roll enough hounds together and you get a .... "hound mix".  At least he's got long legs!!  Luna looks like some-buddy cut her off at the knees.

I mean you could get exotic about it but "hound mix" is probably at least accurate LOL

Brett calls Grey a Mississippi Table Setter, so we could always get exotic with Taz's breed. lol

He reminds me of a Beagle/Vizsla mix I knew from another board, only bigger.  So my guess would be Foxhound and Vizsla.

Hound mix works best.  Making a dog sound like a somewhat exotic mix is popular (foxhound/visla) but I prefer to KISS. :)

I'd go hound mix like others were saying. I could see a possibility of some GSD in there. I probably wouldn't go more exotic than hound/gsd mix if anything.

Honestly, the only thing GSD I see is his coloring.  But that's an acceptable hound color.

Could be pointer/hound and sure the coat has a GSDness about it BUT if he's been an outside dog on poor food his coat may just be fairly bleached. I've seen some seriously 'bleached' GSP's in rescue

I think he's a cutie and that I am sure of Big Smile

I've got nothing to suggest breed-wise, other than to concur about the hound-mix idea.  Regardless, he's a cute dog, and I think his coloring is pretty!

Thanks. He's listed as a hound/GSD mix, but in person, only the coat color hints of GSD. There's a lot of hounds around here because people hunt deer with them, although not as much as in the past, but there's not a ton of GSDs. That's not to say it can't happen though.
