Question! If you call ahead to order a lunch for take-out, do you tip? One meal w/a side, under $20. Not delivery, and I didn't order there on the spot, I called ahead. I've been debating this one and I want to know what the current climate says.

What type of establishment was it ?

Hmm.. how to quantify a small Greek restaurant in a strip mall. Completely casual. Think pizza joint that sells Greek food instead of pizza. There are tables so that patrons can eat in the place.

Don't you love these first world problems like whether to tip or not? :)   I wouldn't tip in this case but maybe things are different in that part of the country.  I don't tip when we call in an order of pizza that we're picking up even though it's a sit down eatery also.

Tracy, I've been meaning to tell you about the pittie at the shelter where I volunteer.  This is Ruby's brother! Looks so much like Ruby and acts like her too. lol  He got out twice while I was there the last time (another volunteer who isn't good with the kennel doors) and ran zoomies like a crazy dog.

ETA, Tracy I'm sorry to hear they haven't found your dentist. I hope they find him soon and that he's ok.

Paige --   if it's geared to "to go" as well as "eat in" no.  In other words, if a server has to take THEIR time to go get the food from the kitchen on plates, and then tuck it all in "to go" boxes, assemble all the drinks, flatware, butter, and anything else someone put on their list and pack it up in boxes and bags and schlep it all the way out to a car somewhere in the parking lot in a "to go" lane or parking spot?  yeah -- then I tip and I tip just like I would had they had to schlep it to my table.

But a little  place where the guy putting up the food  either puts it on a plate OR  puts it right in wrapping paper??  And I'm standing there waiting AT the counter??? (i.e., I came in to get my own food?) -- then no -- I don't tip there.  I might drop change in a jar **MAYBE** depending on how benevolent I feel and how much hassle they went to in order to please me.

But a "tip"? That's to compensate a server for all THEY did to get my food to me including having to pack it all up and assemble it.  A lot of the big chains now have "to go" phones but they honestly aren't geared for "to go" -- it's all the servers who run it from the kitchen to where ever the bags and stuff are.

Servers now even have to split their tips with "food runners" -- so even if the server is AT the to go area, they still probably have to give the food runner a cut of their night's tips and drive thru tips typically suck.

I've got too many friends who are servers -- you work in the bar you make good money.  To go or food running?  Not so much but it's typically where everyone has to start out.

Long winded but that's my take.  I'm not at all generous when I go in myself and stand and wait, go get my own drink from a fridge and stand in line?? nuh-uhhh.

Been busy and not had a lot of time to check in here.

Paige I'm with Callie and would have asked the bosses son. As Tracy said, crawling under a desk at home to do that job is one thing, but crawling under a desk at work..yuk.

Tracy hoping they find the missing climber.

Deb, sorry for your bad dream. They are no fun. I'm one who has nightmares and will scream out. It's awful embarrassing when it happens when we are at a hotel.

Sharon, sounds like a great time was had tubing and sounds like your condo is in a great area as well.

Had an agility trial last weekend and hoped to qualify for Nationals (Tournament classes) but didn't. Have a trial again this weekend and hoping we will do it then. The courses this past weekend were pretty tough courses. Even the best of the best had problems with various ones. We did actually qualify and placed 3rd in a regular (meaning not a class for qualifying for Nationals) jumpers class. A couple of the Tournament classes we only knocked a bar or were off by time. So hopefully this weekend it will all work out.

Running zoomies like a crazy dog? Yup -- sounds like Ruby's kin to me!

I just checked a news website -- the search continues on Mt. Hood. Weather is starting to improve. Hopefully it's still a rescue and not a recovery.

DH has been out of town for 4 days. He'll be home in about 3 hours. Ruby will go bonkers when she sees him!

Funny -- the auto correct on this iPad changed "zoomies" to "zombies!"

Tina, I joined a CSA this year, too! But our growing season up here sucks, and I chose a half share so I still have another couple of weeks before I get to go.

Zombies? hahaha. Mine changes it to zooms. We had a couple of fawns running zoomies in our yard the other day. It was so flippin' cute!

We're going to look at a house tomorrow that just went up for sale. It had recently been foreclosed on and went to a sheriff's sale, but we missed it. Actually, I didn't hear about it until after it happened. So we figured someone else bought it. But now we're thinking maybe they didn't get the minimum and now it's just being sold through a realtor. It only has three bedrooms, but hopefully there's another room I could use as an office. It's priced very well so we'd be able to do about $20,000 in renovations if needed. Which I would be stoked about but DH… not so much. lol. I watch too much HGTV. Geeked

The location is awesome. It's about two miles from our house, and it's within walking distance to MIL's. It's on a somewhat busy country road, but one side of the 5-acre lot borders a small dead-end, quiet road (the one MIL lives on.) I'm really excited but trying not to get my hopes up.
