    Sleepy Tuesday chat

6 am is way to early to be up. Actually I woke up at 5:30 with the sun. It's going to be a long day. I am meeting with some mdot and county engineers to travel around to various damaged roads and bridges to see if they are eligible for emergency funds. I am hoping I won't get terribly car sick. I have to take meclazine which makes me sleepy and zoned out. Since I am already sleepy and zoned out, this could be bad. I hope my doggies are ok at home!

Took a vacation day yesterday, got a ton of stuff done at home. Not too much stuff was piled up waiting for me when I came in this morning.

Stay cool! It's another 3-H day here in mid-Michigan.

Julie good luck today - hope you don't feel too poorly

Lisa congrats on the car!!!!! Inhaling the smell, ahhhhh.

Took DH to the airport at 4:20 or so - he's off to Fort Worth to pick up his new car and do a little road trip home. Bugsy was worried about the suitcase in the hall so slept there all night watching it. LOL
Then when the alarm went off he was ready. Didn't care where anyone was going but he was ready and he was going LOL So I let him ride to the airport. When DH got the suitcase from the back seat, B stuck his head through the side of his barrier and kissed DH. Too cute for words really.

That's all catch up day for me.

Julie, hope you don't get sick or fall asleep mid sentence.

Tina, glad you had a nice long weekend.  Hope you're over your crud.

Karen, that's so sweet about B kissing your DH goodbye. :)

I've got nothing to add to MC today that isn't a rant or a whine.

    Awwwww Bugsy!! :)

Julie - I hope today isn't too awful for you. Do you get carsick all the time?

I slept so good last night and feel much better today. I think the cool temps and rain helped. It's still raining this morning and the news is filled with reports of accidents everywhere. Geesh people!!!

I feel like we really lucked out to get most of the move done before this weekend when the temps will be in the 100s and to not be moving in the rain.

A few of my coworkers will be in the office today to prep for tomorrow's meeting, so Shane will be thrilled to have company.

Awweeee Bugs !  You're to cute for words.

Glad the moving, new cars, getting over the crud, etc., is going well for everyone.

We're in the dog days of summer - I don't even want to leave the house it's so hot and humid.

After being in for a while I feel like yuck its hot and sticky in here - then I go outside and collapse LOL

You know the world is really pissing me off lately. I know I've been saying this or similar for a few months but I am just dumbfounded by the idiocy and selfishness that has become pervasive. I'll leave it at that!

Cathy congrats on all the moving progress, I am so excited for you!

I'm right there with you lately.  I need to stop and smell the roses and let the piles of crap go unsniffed.

    Me, too, Karen & Jackie!

Bugsy loves his Dad - so cute!

I took the day off today.  I've got a hair appointment and have to make a bunch of phone calls that I never seem to get around to during the week.  I've been trying to research a possible change in our insurance policies but haven't sat down and focused on getting all the info and making a decision.  That's one of my "To Do's" for today.

I guess you could say we've got 100% humidity today:  it's raining.  Coming down hard enough that Ruby hasn't gone out to potty yet.

The climber on Mt. Hood (who happens to be my dentist) is still missing.  The weather is hindering search/rescue efforts.  They started again early this AM.  Provided something catastrophic didn't happen to him physically, the hope is he's holed up in a snow cave somewhere because he's an extremely experienced climber and had all the right skills, supplies, and equipment.  I don't know . . . it's hard to stay positive . . . I can't imagine how his loved ones are feeling.

Tracy I hope your dentist is found soon and is ok.  Sending positive thoughts for a break in the weather.   Enjoy your day off even though you're planning on tackling health insurance research.

Oh Tracy -- good thots for your dentist!

Karen & Jackie -- man, you are singing my song.  It would be nice if everyone just tried a little to get along, be pleasant.  You'd think a good deal of the world were seriously contending for "the biggest P.I.T.A. award".

Tracy -- happy decision making (sorry - that sounded sarcastic and I meant to commiserate).

THE GOOD NEWS IS:  The lipoma-thing removed from Charlie's belly was exactly JUST that.  A lipoma.  NO negatives mentioned at all,  Nothing "remarkable".  YAY!!  That gets rid of THAT hot rock in my gut!

    • Gold Top Dog

Excellent news, Callie.  Those kinds of worries do eat at the gut, that's for sure.

I've made some progress on my phone call list this morning.  The insurance stuff I'm researching is for home/auto, not medical.  We've had our policy with the same company for 20+ years, and I decided it's time to find out if there are cheaper options.  The agent we had for a number of years retired and our account was moved to another agent's office, but we've had no personal contact with him, so there's no reason to feel obligated.  I'd rather save some premium dollars.  As a veteran, DH is eligible for coverage from USAA, so I've been talking with them, as well as Amica.

The other big thing I wanted to do was make some calls about updating our wills and such.  Not a fun (or cheap) thing to do, but important.  Again, the person we worked with initially is not in the area now, so I'm looking into other attorneys.  I started with calls to a couple who are long time donors to our local humane society.  I figure it would be nice to start with that in common.

I keep checking to see if Ruby is okay.  She has not moved off her favorite chair since breakfast this morning.  She's zonked out.  Maybe it's because she's usually crated now while we're at work and is used to sleeping for a few hours . . . I guess we should consider leaving her out of her crate if she's this quiet.  She's also not herself because DH is out of town and she's lost without him.  He's back tomorrow, so she'll be thrilled.

Tracy - I've only heard good things about USAA and their rates. I wish we qualified for them. Insurance stuff makes me crabby, so I rarely change. I know we probably pay too much through State Farm but I like our agent and we've always had great service.

I need to update the trust I did just a year ago too and I just dread going through that all again. Blech!!

We've been hoppin here at the office but having a couple of lively coworkers around has made it fun. They just went to get lunch and since I've got Shane and can't go along, I asked them to bring me something back. The place next door has a super yummy buffalo chicken wrap as a special some days. I hope today is one of them. I'm starving!!!

Callie - that's great news about the lipoma!! Yay!

We finally got our rain!  It actually came down pretty good this morning but on the 7 day forecast they predicted 100, 102 & 103 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and 109 by Tuesday. Sad I swear to doG, if Charles Manson escaped and went on a spree in the valley, they'd still be opening every news report with the fact that people in Sacramento needed umbrellas ... in June.

Callie, great news about Charlie!  We're all breathing a sigh of relief with you.

Congrats on the new wheels, Lisa. I know what you mean about car payments. I paid the Toyota I had for 8 months off when DH died so I've been driving "free" for 6 years. I'm hoping for another 6 years.
