Sunny Sunday chat

    Sunny Sunday chat

Summer is finally here and it came with a vengence.  Almost 90 yesterday with enough humidity to really bother me.  But, I've never done well with hot and humid, so no big surprise.

Wanting to avoid confrontation on a Friday (my busiest day of the week) I keep driving when I saw the PITA's car at the office, but I understand from our business manager that the PITA was given a major butt chewing by the boss.  He's quite loyal to his people and I know that was really hard for him.  Well deserved, but still hard for him to do.  She certainly doesn't deserve his loyalty, but that's just the way he is.

The garden is doing so well, despite the incredible rains.  Last nights dinner included sugar snap peas, salad, and baby red skins, all from the garden.  The herbs are going nuts as well and I've already had to start drying some so they aren't wasted.  Today I need to put in a later batch of yukon golds.  I have a very bad habit of raiding the taters for "babies" so I make sure to keep planting.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!  I'm off to play in the dirt before it gets too hot.

Hot here too and humid.  We've been on the go all day running errands and working outside.  Such a difference in gardening depending on where you live.  Our tomatoes are about played out and only the peppers and cucumbers are producing.  Basil is still thriving and it will go until the first freeze.  I don't plant a lot and we always seem to have more than enough.

I need to finish the laundry and finish the house cleaning.  The weekends aren't long enough. :(

I read an article in the paper about dogs being seized in Beijing.  They're enforcing the law, that has been on the books for years, allowing only small dogs. :(

Oh for goodness sakes!  That's terrible.

Jackie I don't like your heat and humidity, but I LOVE the growing season in the warmer climates.  I think that the best place we ever lived temp and gardening wise was the Central Coast of CA.  I could grow year round...never got below 50 and never above 75...maybe 80 on a "bad" day.  Too bad it's so blasted expensive to live there.

Summer is here too! 92. I broke down and turned on the AC as soon as I got home. I did nothing but sweat all weekend, but it was a blast! We ride 4 wheelers, played with the dogs, had nice fires every day and great food.

Last night a coyote was howling right near our camp. It was so eery to listen to. Every so often another coyote would answer with its own howl off in the distance. I eventually had to put abbie to bed because she was not impressed with all the howling. She was so ticked off and would not stop carrying on herself. When I put her in the camper she kept peeking thru the Window convinced the coyote was going to raid our camp. I finally had to turn the fan on so she could no longer hear it. After that she settled down. It was spooky!

Anyway camping with the little trailer was a success. Now I'm home doing laundry, unpacking and repacking. Gotta say, the before and after trips are never any fun hehe

We lucked out with cool temps today but also ended up with a bit of rain. It wasn't much and didn't last long, so the moving wasn't really affected. My SIL & BIL rock!! They both worked so hard and pressed for moving more than we even planned. SIL really worries about her brother doing too much, so it was sweet how she kept going like an energizer bunny. There were 2 items (my elliptical and our bedroom armoire) that were a huge challenge and only because DH and his BIL wouldn't give up, they're where they need to be - yahoo!!! We're both totally whipped but made huge progress. Tomorrow will be spent cleaning here so I don't have as much to do on Friday.

Julie - are you loving that trailer? Is there enough room for you and the pups to sleep comfortably?

Yep! The first night I laid the queen mattress out that came with it. It was comfy and we had plenty of room but the dogs annoyed me. Every time I would move they would rearrange themselves or try to lay on me (even though there was plenty of space!). So the next night I put the cot in there and removed the queen mattress. That set up was a lot better. I was able to put 3 dog blankets down so they each had their own designated spot to sleep. Then I stored all my gear under my cot and the cot was more comfy than the mattress. So i stuck with that set up the rest of the weekend. I put a no spill water dish in there and hung 2 battery powered fans to keep the air circulating and to drown out any critter noise outside (this is extremely important when camping with lily as she will bark at any noise she hears). It all worked out really great and I could move the camper around myself, hook it up to my truck and unhook it with no problems. I'm psyched about it :) I am going to have a canvas / screen door made for the back door (the toy hauler door) so I can leave that open if/when I want and still keep the bugs out.

Julie?  What did you end up getting?  DH and I really loved camping, until we had to live in the darned thing!  Tongue Tied

    Julie, that sounds so nice!

We had a busy day as usual. I brought the kids to a friend's birthday party from 11-1, then I went home and dropped off Sonja and picked up Rupert. Willa, Rupert, and I went hiking in the woods at a shelter fundraiser. We only did a mile because the bugs were super annoying. We came home and chilled for a while, then the kids wanted to go outside and draw with chalk. After about a half hour of that I brought Willa to soccer practice. She got really overheated so after that we picked up DH & Sonja and went swimming at MIL's. Poor Rupert didn't get to go because he got Frontlined this morning.

Glenda, here's a couple photos. It's basically a cross between a tear drop camper and a toy hauler. It has an air conditioning unit and a microwave and that's about it. Pretty simple and basic.

     Attached to the car.

The inside with 3 dog blankets for them to sleep on.

That's great Julie!  For you and the kids?  Perfect.  And the AC might not seem important much of the time, but its truly a godsend!  I wish you many happy adventures!

Julie - it sounds perfect!!! I'm not a huge camper but I think if I had something like that, I would enjoy it. Yay for you!!
