Thursday chat

Yay Charlie and Luna! And Glenda!

    Boo for the gunky eyes.

I've gotta head out and pick up paperwork for a new client, and go meet him later this afternoon.

Ugh... my idiot sister. My niece was here yesterday, but they needed her to come back last night because my brother in law supposedly wanted to have a barbecue. Then she is supposed to come back tonight. My sister just asked my mom if she can take her earlier, because she has to go over to her place and paint (they have been living in a hotel for like 3 months due to mold damage at their house). What happened to their barbecue? She went home last night at 7:30, and now they're ready to send her back? She couldn't have just stayed with us?

     Cathy I totally forgot - DH bought a 2013 Volvo XC70

Ginger always great to see you - do you have any restaurant recommendations in Little Rock? :)

    Bummer about your eyes Tina

    great news Callie

    back to work

Callie, another "phew!" coming from Oregon about the good news for Charlie & Luna!

Glenda, congrats on the promotion.  Too bad a pay increase didn't come with the new title, but hey --- if you're the MANAGER, don't you have some authority about "helping" the resident PIA find her way out the door?!

Ginger, I heard that story about the deaths of those first responders and the other victims.  So tragic.  And for all those heartbreaking stories, there are a few heartWARMING ones like the pet/person reunion!

Deb, I was shocked to hear the news about James Gandolfini last night.  I feel really sad -- I think he was a great actor, plus he's my husband's age, so that hits close to home.  In every interview I'd seen him in, he seemed like such a genuinely good guy.  And I loved his "gentle giant" bear-like persona.  His poor young family -- I heard his teen son found him, right?  How sad.  The comments coming from his peers in the industry are touching, too.

Nicole, those photos are beautiful!  I love black and white pics.  Can't believe a year has gone by -- but she is just as cute as a button!

I had trouble getting the forum (and the dog.com site itself) to load last night and this morning.  Something goofy going on!

I forgot to say that I'm sending some "feel better vibes" to you, Tina.  By the sounds of your symptoms, I don't think even chocolate would help you feel better right now!  I hope the doctor can give you something to speed your recovery along.  Hang in there!

oh my gosh - I'm drooling!!! Will Bugsy get to ride in it? :)

Tina - I am so sorry you're feeling sick. I hope the dr. can give you something that will help you get better fast.

Great news on the pups Callie - yay!!!

Good to see you Glenda. Glad all is going well.

I'm sure I missed someone or something but my brain is pretty tired today. I did manage to get the humongous Board packets in the mail, so I feel a huge relief. Now I have to deal with all the work that piled up the last 2 days. It's gorgeous and I have Pandora playing, so all in all, it's a very nice day.

The morning's new started with coverage of a huge multiple vehicle accident that happened about 1:30 AM. There was a fatality and a lot of injuries and they still hadn't opened any of the lanes of the freeway. It was only a few miles from the station DH was working on his medic shift last night, so I couldn't help but think about what a rough night he'd probably had. He had appt's at the new house for a pool plastering estimate but hopefully will be home and napping soon.

I am sure he will! Since DH is traveling all that way home I keep trying to tell him to pick up a GSP from the TX or Missouri/Arkansas, Kansas rescues :)

Long time no see you 3!

I only had a sec to skim all the posts. Today has been crazy busy but I finally left work and now it's time to pack the camper! Yay! To bad it doesn't pack itself.
    • Gold Top Dog
Julie - did you buy one of those little camper trailers?
    • Gold Top Dog

Julie, I'm eager to see some photos of your maiden camper voyage!

That reminds me -- wasn't there a summer iDog camping gathering planned in the upper mid-west somewhere?  I'd like to see photos from that, too when that happens!

You mean it doesn't?? A guy I know has a similar one -- he likes to go star-gazing so his is packed with all sorts of telescopes -- not dogs and rescue gear. But he calls his "his Toybox"~~ *smile*

Glad I'm not the only one who was having forum problems.  I have computer issues on a regular basis and DS #2 told me to use google chrome because it was faster, but it was such a hassle that I went back to internet explorer. The computer is about 11 years old so I guess a little slowing down is to be expected.

Remember a couple of months ago when I mentioned that an elderly couple (87 & 76) had been stabbed to death in their home and that people were a little on edge?  They just arrested a 16 year old neighbor kid for the crime ... who was still 15 back in April when he butchered  two people. It's mind boggling to me that someone that young could be capable of something that horrific and savage. And to think he's been running loose in the neighborhood since he did this.  Because of his age he's not eligible for the death penalty or life in prison, but he's expected to get 26 years to life for each one, so he'll be locked up for quite awhile.

Joyce, when I hear of young people committing this type of brutal murder it just boggles my mind.  I am glad he's in custody and I hope he stays there for a long, long time.

I tried a few times today and couldn't get the forum page to load.

Callie, I'm glad the pups both got their lumps checked and that all is well.

I'm beat but have chores to do before I can sit down and watch the Spurs and Miami duke it out for the NBA championship.  I probably won't stay up for the whole game.  I picked a humongous cucumber that had hidden from me.  I've never seen a cuke this big.  The tomatoes are about played out but there are probably still quite a few.

The shelter I volunteer for had a sweet dog come in today.  She's an owner surrender.  The owners are in their 90's.  My friend at the shelter said if it wasn't for their age she would have had them prosecuted for neglect/abuse.  Every nail was grown into her pads. Sore and infected.  She's completely hairless and either has demodex or severe dermatitis from the incredible flea population living off her.  She'll need some time to recover and the shelter is always struggling just to provide the bare necessities.  I know my friend will find a way to get her the vet care she needs and find her a home.  She named her Sassy and Sassy sure deserves a better life that what she's endured.  I understand that sometimes people get overwhelmed and elderly often have little income to spare but to allow this dog to get in this condition is just too much.  I'm sorry for the downer story but needed to vent.

Julie, have fun this weekend.  :)
