We got word that we'll close on Friday or Monday *gulp*

That was fast!  Motivated seller and buyer. :)

DH hates it when I call his bluff.  Devil

Cathy, yikes about the carbon rim cracking! I worry about that with my bike. Carbon is awesome and light bUT I don't trust it to not break at some point (unlike the old bikes built like tanks that weigh a zillion pounds). Yay for closing on your house!

Karen, good to hear about b the wonder dog :)

Yay on Bugs, and yay on the house Kathy!

I was at Petsmart tonight exchanging a fish I bought last week that died. They now have pink glofish tetra. We cannot take my niece in there before we can actually buy some. I have a few of the electric green ones, which look yellow in the picture, along with other of the same type of fish which aren't altered. She's been asking for pink fish, which are actually a red altered type of fish of a different species. In order to get those "pink fish" I needed to do some rearranging of my tanks and move some other fish out of the tank they would be in and to the tank in my bedroom. Now that they have the pink fish in the same variety that I already have, it's a bit easier to add them in. I do still have to do a bit of moving around, and I have to wait a bit, because I have a few catfish in quarantine in the tank in my bedroom. Once the catfish hopefully survive the quarantine, I can move them up to the other tank, and get pink fish. Then the pink fish can go into quarantine, and when they're done, I can move all the neon tetras to my room, and put the pink fish upstairs where she can see them. I need to have space to quarantine the pink fish though before we get them, as I imagine she'll be devastated if she saw her pink fish dead.

I feel like I've been off line for days!  I thought the computer died, but it turned out all I needed was a new monitor ... for now. Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday.  Here it was kind of overcast and drizzly for most of Monday and now the weather reports are saying it will be 100 to 102 on Saturday. That's a big jump!

I have to say I enjoyed the "plumbing nightmare" stories.  Years ago DH tried to replace just the toilet seat.  He couldn't get it off, whacked at it with a hammer and wound up cracking the bowl.  The bathroom flooded, we had to dash to Home Depot for a whole new toilet and call a plumber to come that night.Sad Right then I decided that any plumbing issues were best left to licensed plumbers.

Wheeee Cathy!! Were there things that the seller had to fix?

We kind of lucked out in that regard. Someone else had made an offer and then had the inspection done. It's an older home, so the guy found a lot of little things and some not so little, so the buyer backed out. The seller had all the little things fixed and dropped the price a bunch and that's where we came in. We know we'll have to get the pool replastered, replace the fencing and other things but we could see what we were getting into early on and knew it was still a good deal. I think I mentioned it but the owner has been transferred to Austin and needs to go ASAP, so he was motivated. He lost his wife to cancer 4 yrs ago, so I think he's ready to move on. Still, they raised their children there and she was an artist and her work is spread around the house and in some of the garden art, so it makes me sad for him. I hope I get a chance to say good-bye to him and tell him how much we love and will care for the home.

I hope you do too, I know that will please him

Calming vibes being sent for closing!

Also I just heard yesterday about how crazy the real estate market in CA is (more so in some areas than others) - some woman lost 9 homes due to being outbid and finally got one - at $100k over the asking price!! It was a very small little place so hard to imagine how high she went for it! She was in Oakland

Wow. I wish some of that housing market boom would come this way! Then I wouldn't be so reluctant to take a job in another state.
