Sunny Saturday

    Sunny Saturday

The sun is finally back! The cold is still hanging around though. Booo. With all the talk yesterday about non allergies you guys are convincing me to move to California on of these days :) I will have to visit the Sacramento office when I get the chance I got my trailer! Wohoo. My car isn't wired up though so I drive it home with no break lights. I felt like a jerk and it made me crazy nervous. I also can't back that thing up for the life of me and felt like a total moron trying to back it in my driveway. I eventually gave up. I will need to go find a parking lot somewhere and practice I'm convinced this is hot flashes I'm experiencing. Seems early but just read up on it and I guess it's not all that uncommon at this age. Kind of a bummer. I hope I don't get other symptoms. So what's everyone doing this weekend? Eta: holy bad typing

It is a gorgeous day here - sunny and coolish. Perfect in my book :)

I have been experimenting with letting B have some off leash time - its good to see him exploring again, now if I could just keep him from zooming. LOL

I have a ton of stuff I want to do in the yard this weekend. Home Depot has mulch on sale so B and I were there at 8am to beat the crowds. I got back and moved about 50 zinnias that are sprouting in the wrong areas - DH needs to spray weeds today and he would have killed them all so glad that is done.Once the weed killer is dried I will be spreading mulch.

I saw a bunch of classic cars heading towards the lake so I am going to walk down there and check it out. I've been to the car show there a few times, I love the corvettes and corvairs from the 60's

Tonight DH & I are going out for a nice meal, for my birthday.

Lastly I hope to take a nap this afternoon in a sunny room with the windows open!

    The sun is finally back!
It would be nice if you would share a bit. We have dark clouds and wet roads. I got home late yesterday with storms on the horizon. Got half the yard mowed before supper, then watched the rains. The grass is about bunny deep(you can still see the ears stick up over the grass).

Piper slept in this morning-until 8AM. Woke up with her making her tight little circles, meaning she really wanted out. I forgot to turn the TV off last night, so an infomercial actually woke me. Apparently, there is a floor cleaner that cleans sonically. It makes really irritating squeaking sounds. If it becomes popular, I predict an increase in family violence.

I think I will go up to Ft Snelling tomorrow and visit Mom and Dad. TV will be running their war film festival, and there is usually some film from the battle for Okinawa that shows a Kamikaze crashing into a US cruiser. Dad remembered the event, remembered shooting at the plane, and had photos of the ship returning to the battle after burying her dead. But like most of his generation, you had to drag the stories out of him.

Have a good holiday. Remember those who made it possible. Doug

Karen - is today your birthday? If so - Happy Birthday!!!

Julie - you absolutely must come visit the Sacramento office someday soon!

Cool and sunny this morning but will reach the low 80s later. Pretty perfect weather for the weekend but there is a chance of rain on Monday.

I need to get some cleaning done and then I might head out to Homeward Bound to pull weeds. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

I'm thrilled about all the rain we're getting. :)   Too bad DH didn't get the grass cut yesterday but that's a minor problem compared to the benefits of the rain.  Easy for me to say since I don't have to cut the grass. lol

I had a hair cut appointment this morning.  I got there and she wasn't there.  She showed up a few minutes late and we both dashed for the door since it was pouring rain.  We both said, at the same time, "I'm so glad you showed up!"  :)  She cut my hair more than I wanted but it will grow back.

Julie, congratulations on your trailer.  I saw the pics on FB.  Backing up is a skill that takes a lot of practice.  I'm terrible at it and especially when anyone is trying to coach me through it with an audience watching.  It's not an intuitive driving skill and I really admire people who can do it so seemingly effortlessly.

Karen, enjoy your gardening.  I appreciate you sending this rain our way. :)

Cathy, I'm glad you're having some nice weather.

Lazy day in store for me.  Reading, watching a little TV in between laundry.

Happy Birthday, Karen!  Enjoy your dinner celebration.  A good meal (that I don't cook) is my preferred way to celebrate my birthday, too.

Julie, you're going to enjoy that camper.  Don't forget to post some pics with you and the dogs relaxing in it sometime!

Doug, isn't it interesting how that generation is reluctant to share the stories of their past?  Quite a contrast to today's generation, who insist on sharing 100% of their lives to anyone who'll listen.

We're going to visit our friends at their house near Sisters, OR today.  The weather will be a bit damp and chilly, but it'll be a nice change of scenery.  We'll wear layers (the standard attire here).  Lots of scenic walking trails we can enjoy, and Ruby will be able to play with their Boxer.  He tires out much sooner than she does (he's middle aged), but they'll get some heavy wrestling in.  They're both rough players.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, but its not until Thursday :)

we both have full days all week so we are going out tonight.

Jackie you are very welcome re the rain. It's gorgeous here. Cool - 66*, but no complaints. I did a bunch of gardening and a few other tasks and am now relaxing:). Mulch will wait until tomorrow!

Today's funny is: I decided to change the air filter in my car, I opened the clips and could barely get the filter out. After I did I looked in the compartment to see if it needed to be cleaned and there was a pile of acorns in there!! Otherwise it was super clean, but weird to see handfuls of acorns. I truly cannot figure out how they got there but I am glad they are out now lol

Eta Doug enjoy your visit with your Dad and thank him for his service

Hope everyone is having a nice, relaxing long Memorial Day weekend!  The weather here is absolutely gorgeous and expected to stay that way!  My only plans are going to my son's tomorrow...he wants to cook for my birthday.  I hope it's that cedar-planked salmon that he keeps raving about, but we shall see!

The other day in Lowe's Garden Center I came across a houseplant which intrigued me...a pony tail palm, so I brought it home.  For some crazy reason, whenever I look at it now, it reminds me of a Chinese Crested dog!  Must be that poof of green leaves growing out of the top!  This might be the first plant I have ever given a name to!

We ended up with record flooding type rain.  Lots of people needed rescue because they forgot that some roads flood when we get a lot of rain in a short time and they drive right into high water or around the barriers.Huh? We went out for dinner but not anywhere that required travel over roads we know flood.

I took such a long nap today I'm not a bit sleepy. The Spurs are playing the Grizzlies in game three. I guess I'll go watch with DH.

Marty, that's funny about the plant. Happy bday today!
