    Sadie is all over the car when I'm driving. I drive a Honda Civic, so I don't have room for a crate or anything. I put her in the back with a bone, but she is a little nervous and just all over the place. I don't feel it's safe for her in the front, but she ended up there today. It seems she calms down after about 15 minutes, but the first 15 is a little dangerous. What can I do? I guess I'll start with taking very short drives(around the block) to get her used to it Does anyone use those seat belts? It seems to me, she might struggle with that confinement.

    I have crates right now, but I have used seat belts in the past. I like these

    I have both actually, I just keep a pet buckle in my car in case I need it for some reason. I have a ruff rider somewhere for both dogs, in case they travel without the crates for some reason.

     My dogs normally wear a harness, not a collar, so they are already used to that 'feel.'  I have 3 seat belt clips in the back, which attach to their harnesses, and one dog seat in the front passenger seat. 

    My dogs rush to get in to get 'the seat!'  ha ha haaa.

    I would not use the seat belt clips with a collar.

     Yeah, definitely do not clip to a collar. We don't really know all too well how the harnesses will hold up in a crash, but depending on what type you are using, it will definitely break. A plastic buckle collar will break with crash force pressure on it. The one harness I linked, the buckles are the same as the ones used on kids' carseats. The other one doesn't use any buckles to hold it on the dog, thus nothing to break.

    I came back to add:  I also have a hammock in the back seat.  So the dog can't fall off the seat and land on the floor.  Here is the one I have:

    Yes, it is possible for the dog to be in the harness and drop off the seat.  So I really like the set up I now have.
