Chillin Thurs

Kate - are you in Rhode Island right now?  I have been so oblivious to the weather forecasts for here aside from my trip home.  I gotta tell you, I got in my car this morning to head to work and thought, "It was 84 degrees in Tulsa on Friday.  It's 24 degrees here in NH!  Phooey!"

Yup, I'm in RI today/tonight (though it seems like it's a lot further north right now!). Supposedly, we're getting 1 to 2 inches total. Well, I've already shoveled that and more, so I'm guessing the weather folks are a bit behind. It's supposed to snow through the night--I think it's an ocean storm, but I'm not positive. It's cold and we're supposed to continue well below "normal" for the next week or more. I think we're paying for last winter's lack of snow and cold. I am ready to work in the garden!

Kate, I'm sorry you've got snow -- apparently Mother Nature didn't get the memo that today is the first day of spring!!

Karen, if there's such a thing as a "screaming relay team," then I've taken a turn on your behalf out here.  Like you haven't had enough upset over all this --- now a run-around from the insurance company?  There's no wonder why many insurance companies get a bad rap (including companies for humans, not just pets).  You pay oodles in premiums, then when you need the claim reimbursement, they try to find ways to reduce it or deny it.  I like Paige's suggestion of having the vet bill you separately for anything incidental that happens to be done during the main procedure.  I'll keep that in mind in case I ever need to do that in the future!

Paige, glad you're home safe and sound.  On a completely random topic, something reminded me of that elderly gentleman you told us about a while back -- I think he takes photos at competitions?  You told us about your conversation with him, and I remember being really touched by the story.  Have you seen him lately?  I hope he's doing well.

Oops, I forgot I wanted to say that those photos are great, Doug.  The one of the deer looks like a postcard.  That brilliant blue sky looks awesome!

     Good luck Bugs!

I think they said here, it was the coldest first day of Spring in 9 years.

Luke pulled the weight pull cart tonight! It's not the competition cart, it's a wagon we use to practice, but we've been working at getting him there for a while. I think he's been pulling a skateboard since October just to get him pulling wheels to work him up to it, since he refused to do the cart (and really couldn't for a while). Last time he was in, I had the person braking the cart just push it to start it for him when he attempted it. Someone should remind me of how happy I was with him today the next time he drives me nuts.

Great weather here today ... sunny, warmish with a little breeze.  Perfect spring weather. I'll be glad when this week is over. Just two more "crazy" days to go.  Tomorrow I get to spend two hours working at the food bank and Saturday is "Breakfast with the Bunny".

The restaurant we went to for DS's birthday wasn't nearly as bad as the reviews made it out to be,  thank Dog.  But it was still only mediocre at best and really overpriced, which I guess is to be expected when you pick a restaurant in a "touristy" place. There are three other Mexican restaurants fairly close, just not right in Old Town, that would have been 100% better and about 1/2 the price.Tongue Tied

Jan, I think Tracy is right about the wrapping paper.  They usually use the clear stuff to wrap gift baskets.  It's too bad they don't think to package it or label it in such a way that you know what you're buying.  Happy Birthday, Willa!!

No, I haven't seen him.  But I will add to my list of communications that I'll send him a note to check in on him.  :)  I bet a mutual "friend" might know how he is, too, so I'll shoot her an email to ask.

Speaking of random (and I feel like a jerk for putting this right after commenting about that photographer, but, here goes...)  Gracie just audibly farted (a rarity for her, she is not a typical Doberman.)  She looked quickly at her bum like "what the heck was that?"  Poor girl.  DANG, she just did it again - went to squish herself a bit tighter in her sleeping "ball" position and another toot came out - she stuck her nose to her bum to investigate.

I know, not worthy of commenting for most dogs.  Somehow very strange and funny for my dog.  In almost 10years I've rarely ever seen her do that.  weird
