Tickle me Tuesday

Happy Birthday, Jan!  Enjoy your rhubarb pie or cake (forgot which one).  Men are so lame sometimes with their reasons for forgetting an occasion.

Sharon, it's so hard to deal with a friend like that knowing there's nothing you can do except hope they can see they need help and get it.

At one point in the past, I was considering talking to the significant other and inviting her to come live with us for a bit, with rules that she pay rent and pay down her debt, hold down a job and quit drinking - but I knew that unless she asks for that type of help, it won't work.  I can't save her, as much as I may want to.

Glad you didn't follow through with that - my stepdaughter was in a similar boat with a friend. Despite your best intentions it wouldn't help, like all change it has to come from within.

Janice I forgot to say I would like to swat your DH. Mine does similar stuff and I know it isn't intentional but man it peeves me! So I am peeved for you!!

Lisa my guess is that yes something about the ride does get things moving but he doesn't do it if we have a long interstate drive, Just around town stuff.  Shrugs

     Happy birthday Jan!

I went to do an observation of a student just now. 10 minutes in, she got pulled by the counselor for an intervention. Ummm.... thanks for letting me know. I was pretty sure the student was on to me, but now she definitely knows, since the counselor pulled me to the hall to tell me it would be a while. It's a good thing I live 5 minutes away, and didn't have to trek out there. Now I guess I need to figure out when I can see her later this week.  Never mind that I might be a person who would be important to inform about this.I wonder if this is drugs or something else.

Happy Birthday Jan!!! Party!!!CakeGift Men! - Super Angry

Paige - I'm so sorry about your aunt and you not being able to make it for the service. I'll keep her husband in my thoughts and prayers.

Jackie - that made me sad to read about Red Sad

Julie - I hope this bug you caught passes quickly.

I hope I didn't forget anyone. I'm came in to a mess of work and 2 of my coworkers will be in the office today, so I won't have the quiet I need to get it all done. I feel really petty mentioning tihs but I was super irked today to find that once again my boss had been in and taken 1 of 2 diet pepsis I had in the fridge. He's taken to foraging for food when he's here and doesn't seem to care that it's usually mine. I'd feel silly for saying anything but it just bugs me. Hmm

That would bug me too.  Leave a few empty cans in the fridge.  Maybe he'll get the hint.  Maybe not, since he's male. Wink

Lots of things to reply to today!  First, Happy Birthday Janice!!  Sending you best wishes and some sympathetic grumbling about the male tendency to overlook things!

Paige, I'm sorry about your aunt and that you had to miss her service.  I know how you feel -- I've missed several funerals living out here.  When you can't get home in time to say your goodbyes, the sadness has an extra layer, even if you "knew" the person wasn't going to recover.  On another note -- sending you safe driving vibes if you're on the snowy roads!

Jackie, I'm also sorry to hear about your friend's dog.  I have always lived in fear of bloat -- Tonka was deep chested, and so is Ruby.  It seems like such a deadly, sudden thing with little chance of saving a dog if it happens.  Did Twister know Red?  Maybe it will comfort you and your friend to imagine them watching over you guys together.

Lisa, the photo project for you parents sounds awesome.  They will love it.  I'm sure you know how lucky you are to have such a close, loving family with so many years of happy memories together.  I bet the celebration at the restaurant will be a blast.

Sharon, I understand how frustrating it is to watch someone you care about make the same mistakes over and over, and how you want to help despite it being futile.  I hope things improve for your friend in the future so you can resume your relationship.

Jen, I've always assumed you worked with young kids (like grade school or so).  You mentioned a possible drug problem with the client this morning.  I'm hoping it wasn't a very young child (not that drugs are ever a good thing, but you know what I mean).

Cathy, I don't think the soda/food issue is petty.  If you put a sticky-note with your name on the containers, would that help?  Maybe your boss thinks unmarked edibles are for anyone in the office?

    Feel better, Julie!

I'm with you Lisa. This weather sucks. Had our agility class cancelled today, due to the weather. That's a great idea for your parents anniversary. Lot of work but as you said, lots of fun going through all of the photos.

So sorry about your friends dog Jackie. That's sad.

Happy Birthday Tina. yum, yum strawberry rhubarb pie. Enjoy. have a piece for me too.

Sharon sorry about your friend. That's a tough one, when you'd like to be able to help but know, unless they do something, there really isn't anything you can do for them.

At least he left the beer alone.

Pipers' biweekly nail trimming trip this morning. It's so much easier to just sign a check than to fight with her about her feet. It is getting better now. It only takes three people now. I get to hold the end with the teeth.

Cold, white, and windy. A great way to start spring. Our paper is covering the drought. In Minnesota, we brag about 10,000 lakes, it is actually over 15000. Rivers everywhere, with Lake Superior and Lake of the Woods in the north, and an aquifer that starts in Canada and makes for great beer, but we seem to be running into a problem with water supply. The demand is increasing faster than the aquifers are filling. Housing, with all those nice green lawns surrounded by concrete, processing plants sucking all the water out of small towns, farmers irrigating crops. There have actually been proposals to pipe water from Superior to the west, as far as California. March, and there is already talk about water rationing.

"May you live in interesting times"

"May you come to the attention of those in authority"

"May you find what you are looking for."

Yeah, well we weren't always this way. There are four of us all 2 years apart. When we were going through the pics I asked my sister if there were any pics of the time she almost choked our brother to death or the time we poured raw cherry kool-aid on my brother in the shower. My poor parents - no wonder they leave for 1/4 of the year LOL

Tracy, up till recently, most of the kids I have worked with have been young. The oldest has been a group of boys who have just turned 12, one who will be 12 in a few months. In the past few months, I've gotten another contract with a different company in addition to what I have already had. So far, the clients I've been getting have been in middle school. But, I'm also getting, or should be getting, two new four year olds in the upcoming weeks. Usually, I get kids with autism. The middle school Kids are all different stuff, and super interesting. They aren't what I set out to do, but I'm loving it so far. But, right now, I'm sitting in front of a 7 year old's house, giving her a few minutes before I go in.

    Happy Birthday, Jan. GiftCakeWilted Flower

It started raining a little while ago.  Not very hard, but we'll take what we can get.

I just found out I have to be there at 6:30 a.m. Saturday to help get the tables set up and decorated for "Breakfast with the Bunny." I am n.o.t a morning person.  I'm not usually even awake at 6:30, much less up, dressed and out.  Maybe I'll suggest "Lunch with the Bunny" for next year. DS #2's birthday is Wednesday and he picked some Mexican restaurant in Old Sacramento to go for dinner.  He says he's been there and liked it, but the reviews are not good ... everything from surly, inattentive waiters to crappy, overpriced food and food poisoning. Sad I guess we'll find out tomorow.
