Monday chat
Morning! Cooling vibes for all of you that are melting this week. Your lows are our highs. I can't believe that entire fire crew was killed. How tragic. I wonder what happened. Today is meeting hell day at work. Not really looking forward to it. I was so tempted to call in late today...

TGIF
Busy day ahead - happy its Friday DH got home and his car is lovely B saw the fox this morning, fortunately the fox decided B meant business and ran off. Of course I still had to get the Beast to settle down which took a bit but we got there. We are in the daily storm routine so each day is super humid...

Freida 7 months old
I am trying to post a pic of Freida at 7 months of age, she is 52 pounds now. I am hoping the rest of her growth to come is just in the body and height. http://community.dog.com/members/mydogs/photos/picture996579.aspx

Sunday Chat
I won't complain about our 108 degrees yesterday after seeing Cathy's temps. We're having a nice gentle rain shower right now. It will be steamy later but the plants are loving it. I would love to do absolutely nothing all day except read and watch mindless TV. That ain't happening...

Rescue Pup
A shepard rescue from New England is taking this puppy and already has a home waiting for her. Right now, her name is Kay Kay, and today was her last day at the parish animal shelter. Had they not stepped in, she would not be alive right now. She's a Lab mix about 10-12 weeks old. I am fostering...

Saturday AM
The 5:30 dog alarm went off-about 1 yip per minute. Amazingly disturbing, especially on Sat morn. The heat broke a bit. Thursday was interesting. High heat, high humidity, and full sun shine. Kind of like getting hit with a hot club. I had a service call out on the prairie. A beautiful drive, with everything...

Guess the breed
Okay guys, I need your help figuring this one out. This is Taz, a hound mix that's available for adoption with Hope for Animals in Thibodaux, LA. Before I start networking him on FB rescue groups, I want to have a better idea of what he may be. These are his recent pictures. I met him today, and...

Rescue transport info needed
We've hit a snag in transporting Kay Kay, the puppy seen in the photos section of the forum. It's my understanding that the rescue group that pulled her can't use two transport groups (Rescue Road Trips and Pets LLC---I'm assuming they use these often) because animals in transport must...

Itchy Thurs
I finally found a store up here that sold benadryl last night. Stores are sure hard to come by this far north! I'm glad I thought ahead and packed my cooler to keep drinks and what not in. This is my last day of hell. I was joking with my boss that i deserve combat pay for dealing with all these...

Decorating help needed
Our new master bedroom has a slider and window right next to each other and I need to get them covered ASAP. I'm just not sure what to use. I've had verticals on my bedroom slider at the other house and although they're not very fashionable, I love that I can open them all the way, just a...

Wednesday (halfway there! whoo hoo) Chat
You can tell I'm already without imagination! That was the best title I could think of this early. Can't wait til I can drive myself in mornings. High allergy stuff this morning. Even David said his eyes were watering. Have a good "hump day" y'all!

Sleepy Tuesday chat
6 am is way to early to be up. Actually I woke up at 5:30 with the sun. It's going to be a long day. I am meeting with some mdot and county engineers to travel around to various damaged roads and bridges to see if they are eligible for emergency funds. I am hoping I won't get terribly car sick...

Bring Earl Home-JackieG
I've been following this story on FB and wanted to share with those who may have missed it or don't do FB. A short summary in case the link doesn't work. Earl is a black Lab who served our country overseas as a bomb detection dog. His handler was injured by a bomb, as was Earl, and he...

Sandy Hook & Therapy Dogs (and one a Hairy God.. father?)
*crossing eyes* -- when I embedded the link, I must have put the link itself in the "name" section and I haven't a clue how I accomplished the rest of it?? I couldn't have done THAT had I been trying to!! oy! Incredible article on therapy dogs who have been helping at Sandy Hook. http...

Grey
Underneath all that fur, which is now nice and short for the summer (as you can see) is a lean, mean vet-hating machine. Because Grey would not cooperate for x-rays, the vet gave him a sedative to "take the edge off." Consequently, I spent the rest of the day with a loopy, flatulent dog who...

Sunny monday
I think we have a theme going. Unfortunately the sun is seeing it's last days here for a while. I'm road warrior-ing it today nf all week for that matter. 12 hrs ahead of me. I'm not quite awake yet though and I still need to throw my clothes in a bag and pack my cooler. I just couldn't...

Bugsy declares himself *healed*
Here's a couple of videos from the last few days: first was Friday afternoon I saw him up on his hind legs trying to launch up a tree - I missed that part on video but got the tail end of the squirrel hunt LINK Then this morning AFTER early morning zooming and a 2 mile walk in oppressive humidity...

Toughest Toys
It has been along time since I have purchased puppy toys. So, I am wondering what is out there for big time chewers. I use antlers, rawhide only when I am around and I have one Kong (but she has managed to chew away at the rubber on the tip). I have also had toys made from tire rubber that she can chew...
