I'd be willing to bet he just plain hurts

Yup--and, it may be a good indicator that it's not quite time to reduce the pain meds yet (as much as I, too, would want to!). They may be what makes is possibe for him to move a bit. It's a difficult balance, that's for sure! One Ton, keep going buddy! We're sending you lots of get better soon vibes!

Makes sense to me, too.  What does the vet say?  Continued good thoughts for One Ton.

Yep... that is (hopefully) exactly what is going on. Talked to the vet and that's what they think. I was running out of the Tramadol mid-weekend (they are closed weekends) so I reduced it to make it last and was hoping it would be enough. It's not... I feel like a total jerk not realizing it's the pain causing him to want to be immobile, but it makes sense. I pick some more up after school, he did get the last of it this morning, but it was one pill vs. two. Anyhow, crossing my fingers that helps him more... what a long road he's on. I am not good at this apparently.

Hang in there, Karen.  Hugs to you and good pain meds for One Ton.

Karen, You're VERY GOOD AT THIS!  It's so hard to know when to reduce the pain meds with such an athlete and he just can't tell you how much pain he's in (or he isn't in). You're doing a great job! One Ton is sooooo lucky to have you to take care of him (and to save his life to start with!).  Hugs to you and scritches for One Ton.

Horse feathers!  You are doing a great job.   It is a long road and you and One Ton are in my thoughts and prayers that he makes it through this.  I know he couldn't be in better hands.

Karen if you weren't going through so much, I'd slap you for being way too hard on yourself.  You are doing a GREAT job with One Ton, and don't you forget it.

You all remain in our thots and prayers.

You raised him to be strong and healthy.  That has to have helped his survival a lot.  It will get better as he gets his strength back.

You're way better at this than you give yourself credit for. I'd be willing to bet that if you weren't so good at this, One Ton might not be with us to continue his fight. Hang in there and hopefully more pain meds will do the trick to get him up and moving a little more.

You are doing so wonderfully for One Ton.  He's trying.  He clearly WANTS to live.  He's got that couch & warm fire to look forward to.  Thank you for taking such awesome care of him.  Still sending good vibes your way.  Give him some ear rubs from me.

Karen you **are** good at this because you NOTICED he was less mobile.

*I* can spot the "it hurts" thing ONLY because I live it.  But see, girl, you are smart eough to SAY SO and wonder about it.  Many many folks just plain wouldn't notice.  You **do**.

So I'm not gonna hear of you being hard on yourself -- One Ton knows you're doing well and he also knew if he showed you **YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND!!!** -- you just had to get a little help interpreting the message.

Time for the candles page again -- Gizzy and Milo are both doing better TOO -- and I'm absolutely convinced it's largely because we keep the prayers constant.  This energy does help healing occur (and Oliver will tell One Ton that Aunt Callie is just plain too darned stubborn to give up!!!  *grin*)

Candles page -- Give a click!! It's painless!! IT HELPS!!

Just checking in to see how One Ton is doing.

He's definately feeling less pain. He WAGGED his tail for me this morning. When I walked into his room it went "thump thump thump" which is a first :). He's eatting less still even with more pain meds, but getting up easier, in fact I did syringe feed him some this morning since I didn't want him to get even weaker. We have an appointment for Thursday to check the liver and kidney values... SO nervous about that. The vet says if they are not showing some improvement by then, then they will likely not recover. He's weaning him off the twice daily fluids too at this point. He was eatting really well for about 2.5 days. Now it's only partial interest in food. I'm hoping that a couple days back on the pain meds will help that and am trying really hard not to overthink it.

Tail wagging has to be a good sign Big Smile  Now One Ton I know you must hurt but you have to eat for your Mom! Keep up the good work!

So as not to be gross, all I'll say is this... the neck, it erupted, I've not seen that much fluid come out of a wound, ever. Gag. I'm guessing though I should be happy the body is ridding itself of all that nasty fluid!

He's much more mobile now, exploring the living room and kitchen that he's back on full pain meds ... you were all right! He's decided the canned AD is the devil... maybe it made him nauseus? so now I need to find the next tasty thing to make him want to eat.
