On Monday, my Dad's only brother (Don) called him to come get him because he has passed out and couldn't get up. Turns out he had lost 6 PINTS of blood (I think you only have 9) over the weekend, or sometime within the past few days. They said he only had 3 pints left in him and they spent Monday putting the rest back in. They had the scopes scheduled for yesterday afternoon and the doc was sure he was going to find colon cancer (since that's where it seemed the bleeding was coming from).
The good news is no colon cancer, but the bad news is they don't know where he is losing it from. On top of that (or maybe because of this issue) he is losing his hair in massive clumps. Since my parents were away for three months I hadn't seen him since Christmas. He always lived with my grandma and we all thought he was doing well after she passed last January. He is a little different, really keeps to himself, doesn't let anyone know what's going on with his life, and doesn't talk much (pretty much the exact opposite of my dad and our family). He isn't married so we are all he has. He's lived with my grandma his whole life (except when he went to Vietnam). He hasn't been to the doctor for YEARS, and he's in his mid 60's.
Can you please send out some good thoughts? They are doing more tests today to hopefully find out what is going on and where he is bleeding from.
Here's a pic of our family at my grandma's funeral. He's the one on the end, next to my DH (the other end is my Dad, his brother)
