Any products to keep dogs off bed?

Has anyone had any success with keeping your dog off the bed? We have four dogs. I am constantly trying to keep one dog (the alpha) off our bed. She knows she doesn't belong there because if I walk in the room she will jump off. Sometime she hears me coming and jumps off the bed before I come in.

I am wondering if there is anything I can buy to keep her off. I have heard of foil sheets.
She is a shedder so hair is mostly the problem.

When I don't want my dog on the bed (usually wet paws) I just keep the door closed.

If we are not home, we block off the hallway the goes to the bedrooms.  Too much  temptation there if they get bored.  Even when we are at home, they usually don't go into the bedrooms unless we do.

We don't allow the dogs to go into the guest room unless invited.  We use to block the room off with a 18" piece of white foam core when they were little.  After a while, we cut the foam core down to a 4" tall strip across the threshhold so that it can be walked over by people.    The girls won't cross the strip.  If you remove the strip and invite them in, they are allowed and will come to visit.

Max, who is also a major shedder, sleeps on our bed.  I got a couple of lightweight cotton blankets out of a catalog (one of those any size for $19.99 sales) and I just keep one tossed on the bed. For me, that was easier than trying to figure out how to keep him off, since he came to us thinking that's where he belonged. [:)]

Oh! That's a great idea! I buy cheap throw blankets from Ross, that cost less than $10, and put them on there.

Although, I don't mind having my Pittie on there [:D]

If you have rules in your house and your dog is not following them maybe is time to apply a little bit more hard the NILIF (google) program, he has to respect the rules regardless if you are at home or not or if you have the door open or not, if he is not consistent on following your rules then he is not taking you seriously (even if he is doing it behind your back)

I like crates and baby gates.  A baby gate allows your dog to sleep just outside the door but still feel "part of the pack".  They make them in nice wood tones now, not the crummy plastic.  A crate trained dog can be contained when you aren't home, or when you don't feel like closing the bedroom door.  Frankly, if the dog is not exhibiting any behavioral problems, like growling if you try to move him, why not just put a sheet on top of the bed when you aren't home?

We have a throw blanket at the end of our bed and Rory knows she cant jump on the bed until I pull it up. It has always been that way however if I'm not home and I leave the door open she will not think twice about burrowing under my covers.....lil stinker.
