Jones, you probably don't want to be associated with me, but your sentiments are mine.  You and others are so far ahead of me and I do try to be respectful and polite, sometimes I do pester.  If I ask a question the 'ask' part is perceived as a demand.  It could easily be interpreted as a plea.  I can't control the tones in a person head, other than to tell people my intent is in the best interest of the dog.  It is very frustrating.

Better yet, don't own a dog because they have the potential to harm people. Or maybe Breed Specific Legislation will stop people from owning certain breeds, and that will stop all of the problems?

    I don't think so. [;)]

If one would just angle themself a little and catch a glimpse of the other side, they would see education is the key and not an attempt to control.  I do not share your view that the public is not capable of understanding once presented with good information.

Yet "good" information is a relative term. Accurate information is how I would word it. And, it still comes down to each individual's viewpoint in any given situation.

One person may watch one of Cesar's episodes and refer to a tap of the foot as a "kick", using a hand as a nip of another dog as a "hit", lifting a dog's front end off of the ground to break off an attack as a "hanging", a correction as "abuse", etc...

This is why it's important to see an episode with your own eyes before attempting to discuss it.

Your right, education is the key.

Without this well moderated CM forum, you would never get past the gauntlet of emotion, misinformation, and attempt to control what others think and do with their own dogs, to even be able to share some knowledge in the first place.

The closer you can get to direct information from Cesar himself through his website, his books, his dvds, his seminars, his shows, NGC sites, what he has posted at [linkhttp://www.dogpro.org]www.dogpro.org[/link] , etc...the more you simply observe how dogs interact with each other, the better you will understand what he is trying to teach.

The addition of reading the works of other canine professionals from his suggested reading list in the back of his book, would be something I recommend.

Patience and kindness towards anyone you wish to learn from, is also helpful. [;)]

    Okay Jaime.

I did not see your warning.

    I'm done.

Don't be done in the thread...there is a problem and the OP needs help...after all isn't that why we're here??? Offer your experience, your opinion and your support!

Finding help gets lost in the multiple posts where people are having discussions on things that are personal and don't apply to the topic as we've seen recently.

Having read the thread Wolfdog opened up in another area, my initial gut-feeling that he should get hands-on, eyes-on help from a bahaviorist, is still what I would recommend.

In the other thread he already has alpha-rolled his dog. I do not recommend any regular dog owner do this to their dog. I don't even like to give advice about how to administer a correction, without seeing things first hand.

This is a novice owner with a breed who can be a real handful, and I have to trust my initial instincts on where I feel Wolfdog is headed with this dog.

There is only so much we can do to help in certain situations on a dog board.

    Wolfdog,

Enjoy Cesar's show. Get his book "Cesar's Way" and read it. But please, do not attempt any physical confrontation with this dog without professional help. Your dog is still young and you have an excellent chance to have a wonderful relationship with this dog for many years.

Please get help from someone in person. I recommend someone through the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP):

Good luck to you and your dog.

Having read the other post, this dog sounds like he never learned appropriate play as a puppy.  A trainer may be able to help and advise you but please don't feel that you have a dangerous or "problem" dog on your hands.  No one should ever "alpha roll" a dog or attempt any kind of physical confrontation, and if a trainer advises you to, find someone else.
