    Oh, good story. . .

Today we went to the park, our usual walk, nothing special.

A older man was walking toward us and I realized he also had what looked like a chow.

So, as we got closer he yelled over to us and I went over to see his dog, couldn't resist.  It's not like they are all over.

Well, turned out to be a husky/chow mix, male.  They were both on leash.

Willow did her usual straining to get close to him and then growled when she was too close. . .doesn't make sense to me.  Why does she want to be near him only to then growl???

Anyway, he didn't do anything, just sort of sat down and acted really submissive for a minute or two.

THEN, he got sick of her and grabbed a stick, turned so his butt was facing her and laid down to chew his stick!

Well, she didn't know what to make of that??  So, she started doing these little yelpy barks at him to get him to pay attention to her.

He turns, gives her a look out of the corner of his eye and went back to his stick.

As I was talking to the man, she started sniffing something else.

I'm so glad she was blown off!!

Lori, that was a perfect incident of a dog using +R.  The other dog ignored the bad behavior and all of a sudden the behavior changed.

Yay for you and yay for Willow!

Congrats Willow! [sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif]  Max does that too. He wants to get near them, and then if its a unneutered male, he gets upset. Actually yesterday, him and the one of the other dogs that always gets him all flustered played and chased after the same ball with out a fight! There was only a little bit of growling right at first. And then when the other dog crashed into him cause Max stopped really quick. [sm=lol.gif] He didnt like that very much. He looked very bewildered. He dropped the ball and the other dog grabbed it and Max came back to me whining. He had a look on his face like, "Did you see him run into me?! That was mean! Then he took my ball!!"

It's so funny, I can't imagine Max as anything but super friendly.

That's such a funny story! I love it. That boy communicated SO clearly with Willow. Wow!

Yes, she so needed it.  I think a big part of her problem is she thinks the world revolves around her.  It's all about her in her mind.

You know, I believe this to be true with dogs.  I think that is why they respond so well to people who have the "all about me" attitude.  I think they actually understand and respect that.

If I am in the kitchen cooking, Zeus will come in and look around...like whatcha fixing me?  In his world....of course I am cooking something scrump up for him.

What else could I be doing?

Really, it sounded as if Willow handled herself pretty well if there wasn't any lunging and gonna kill me a dog coming from her.
