recall for dog park when playing to rough
What is a good way to recall AND work on recalling my dog at the dog park when she is maybe getting a little too rough with another dog. Before things escalate, i would like to train her to come back to me when called, but it is difficult to break her attention with all the distractions and heightened...

Beagle w/many anxieties getting worse
My 5 year old beagle suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. She will not go to the bathroom on a leash or in view of anyone. She has always had 5 acres to roam freely on. She is a house dog, but spends her days outside. She never needed any potty training correction, as a puppy she just followed my...

T-Bone resource guarding, eek!
Today I took T-Bone over to a neihghbor's house. They gave him a treat, a Denta stick, and he adored it. Someone went to pet him and he gave a tiny grunt/growl and took off. I was SHOCKED! I tried to touch it and he did the same thing, but with a lot less of a growl. I immediately went to the store...

Can 11 year old be socialized?
I have an 13 and 11 year old bichon frises. The 13 year old is fine with other dogs but the 11 year old only gets along with the 13 yr old, no other dogs. He barks like a maniac in every situation. We tried introducing him to my son's pup in a neutral area with no luck. We just moved from a private...

Maxs Mom
"Pack" Dynamics
Just a personal observation. As some of you know my senior Maxine has cancer, osteosarcoma and we are not treating her. She is doing "ok" so far, she is on tramadol. Since Teddi joined our family 2+ years ago, she has been glued to Max's side. We call her "mini me" she worships...

How do I introduce Willow to Tempo properly?
I'm not expecting this to go well. But, I'd love it if anyone has advice on what is the best way to introduce them to see if Willow will tolerate him. So, far, no, but I don't think we've been going about it right at all. I do not expect them to be friends. The very most I'm hoping...

Riley and I need your help
*sigh* Well, here goes... Lately, Riley has been acting aggressively with other dogs he sees on walks. He wasn't always like this, it's just picked up in the past couple of months or so. Honestly, I should have given more attention to it, that's my own fault. The thing is, we go to the...

Welcoming "Friday"
Hey all - it's been so long since I've been on the boards! I've been busy with tons of shelter work! And in the midst of it all, aquired a new family member! On my way home early one morning, (or late at night, depends on how you look at at) around 3:30 I passed a stray sitting out infront...

10yr old Ridgeback
Hi. Normally I can deal with any and most problems that arise with my Ridgeback. This time I'm stumped. He has suddenly decided that he doesn't need to go on his bed at bedtime. When I was away from home for a while, my darling husband decided to allow the dog to sleep in the bedroom with him...

Having problems transitioning from crate to house...help
I have two approximately 7mo female puppies. We got them both when they were around 3mo. One is a whippet/terrier mix, around 20lbs and the other is a rat terrier/chihuahua mix, about 6lbs. They have both been crate trained from the time we got them and now can successfully hold it for 6 hours while...

3 Year Old Dog Started Pooping on the Floor Out Of Nowhere
I have a 3 year old black lab/beagle mix named Bodacious (Bo) that I have had for a little over 2 years now. Within the past month, he has started pooping on the floor when he is home alone by himself. He started doing it in the unfinished basement, so I started closing the basement door thinking it...

Sorry forgive me for the length, just trying to get some answers to this For the sake of the other dogs owner, I'm not going to use the dogs real names. Okay I have 1 year old Terrier mix (well more like 1 and a half) who is typically very calm and submissive. Her name is Ziva My grandparents have...

Will they ever be friends?
We have two dogs, Abby who has terrier in her and she is not a afraid of anything. You let her outside and she runs out and lets the world know she is there, everytime. And Pella who is like any lab, is just there, caring, laid back, but will check it out right away if she senses danger. We have some...

Obsessed with outdoor toys
I guess this is an agression/obsession question. Our Staffordshire Terrier is a very sweet and calm dog except anytime we try to play "fetch" with her. She won't give up on anything we throw until it's torn to shreds, she's demolished tennis balls, sticks, ball throwers, soccer...
