    Mouse needs a schedule

I have a new foster until Monday and I don't know how much to feed him. His other foster mom is away in SC and I don't know if the schedule she had him on is the right one. I have to call her and ask her but I just got from the vet and I fed him a cup of dry kibble. I don't have any of the good stuff so he is eating what Shailer is on Alpo I know not the best but my dad bought it. He currently weighs 33lbs and the vet estimated he is between 10-11 months. Is there anything I could add to his diet that I could have at home?

Don't try to add a lot of weight fast -- it's a mistake.  His frame isn't used to carrying it.  Rather, give him good nutrition.  My suggestions:

sardines?  give him 1-2 once a day

could you get him some beef heart?  If you ask the butcher at your grocery store often they'll have it or can get it and it's CHEAP. (Shailer can do with some too).  Cut it in cubes and just lightly saute in some olive oil.  Just add a few cubes to each meal.

fresh fruit and/or veggies -- mash it up (cook it if veggie) and add some to his food -- particularly greens or orange/yellow veg (squash, sweet potato, spinach, any greens)

bits of apple (peel it and no seeds).  If you eat apple yourself, try scraping some with a knife, wipe it on your finger and offer it -- great vitamins and easily digestible.

Mashed up banana -- just add it to his food

Mom cook yucca?  it would be good for him right now and would reduce the wound inflammation.  If you can get hold of some uncooked -- just simmer it in water cut up for hours (don't let it burn dry -- just keep adding water).  Remove the strings -- it will cook to a "glue" -- but add a bit to his food.

I am pretty sure I can get some sardines. As for the beef heart my mom has a friend that works in a butchery thingy so I am pretty sure she could get me some if I ask her. We have spinich so I can give him those. I don't like apples but we have some and I will give those to him with his food or as treats. Mom doesn't cook yucca but I think we have some but its frozen will that still work?

eggs also are an excellent diet addition.

We have a lot of those. How do I give them to him, boiled, raw?

I'd prob scramble the eggs - he's in such a weak state right now I dunno that his system could handle any bacteria from raw meat or eggs right now.
