Bones for dogs who don't like to chew

Aesop dislikes chewing..give him something even as simple as a chicken nugget and he'll act like you expect him to hold a mouthful of pudding. He'll mouth it until it falls out.  I've given him marrow bones and he ends up just licking them.  He does chew kibble and cookies (but they must be small cookie pieces)  I gave him a rib bone today w meat and he thought that was great..I had to take the meat part off..he doesn't gnaw things. But he ate the meat and then did chew the bone. I took it away when he got the end gnawed more than just a bit in case there were sharp pieces and he didn't chew thoroughly or somesuch.

I noticed a tiny bit of tartar on a tooth today. He's just a pup, far too young for that!

What are some bones that are both small (the only store where I can buy marrow bones won't cut them smaller for me to make them 'pup pup friendly';) yet aren't inappropriate for larger dogs, AND work well for dental health.

As a note..his bite is fine...he just doesn't like to chew things

ETA also that the dog who won't chew food items has no problem chewing up cardboard and plastic cupsHuh?  goofball

How about a Kong with Kong Stuffing to get the ball rolling? Or a rope bone?Neither has any sharp points that could scratch his gums.

I like beef ribs for small or baby dogs.  There's plenty to keep them interested for a long time!

He did have a beef rib, which he enjoyed. He's over 50 lbs and 7 months old, so shouldn't in theory have a problem. But apparently he is a delicate soulStick out tongue

As a note, it took him three times as long to get meat off than it did my YorkieStick out tongue

I think it's a chow thing because even Willow the smallest cookie anything even slightly hard she chews like you just gave her a rock to eat.

Must beBig Smile  Legend has never been a huge chewer, and has never been a fan of rawhide bones and such. He has always done fine with cookies though.   Aesop is decidedly not Stick out tongue We have these little pumpkin cookies in the shape of little bears, that are thin and about the consistency (and size) of an animal cracker, and he just recently decided that he could eat a whole one without it being broken into piecesStick out tongue

haha - Casey does this with his 'chicken basted' raw hides. Those are the only bones he is semi interested in.... I've never tried RMBs or any time of 'animal bone'. I always forget to ask about them when I'm at the grocery store.....

He liked the Blimpie bones from petsmart for a day or so.... but I've got like 3 more of the 'other flavors' that he did not approve of... Confused

    I've started brushing his teeth....

LOL, yup, Willow will take the smallest of cookies or anything really, something she should be able to eat in one bite and make it a three and four bite production with crumbs everywhere.  I don't usually mind though, I'm too happy that she's actually eating something.
