What kind of meat does your dog do better on?....

Started homecooking nearly a month and a half ago, with rotation of meats every week or so, between Chicken, Turkey, and Ground beef (cooked), along with organ meats from each specie mixed into Preference, a freeze-dried dehydrated vegetable mix that you add your own meat to.

My Duck Toller appears to do really well beef and beef hearts mixed in together, not a combination I thought a breed from the retriever family to do well on. At least this one doesn't appear to have all the lingering food allergies he either had, or we thought he had as a young pup; i.e. itchy and infected ears, skin infections, red paws.

But we took him off grains around 8-9mnths old, he's now 18mnths old. I do know he doesn't tolerate barley, wheat, corn, and oats too well.

Anyone else know what meat source there dogs seem to do great on.

Mine seem to do best with lots of fish in the diet plan. I also feed a lot of pork, which is cheap and easy to obtain in this area. Offsets the high cost of the fish.

The BCs favor red meat and fish.  Lynn has a sensitive tummy and eats  fish, poultry, and pork.  Maggie and Zhi eat mostly what Lynn does - Maggie in particular does well on the high glucosamine content of chicken.  But I also give her a lot of beef heart for the high taurine content.

Only meats Trudy can eat are Salmon, Venison and Lamb.  No grain, just veggies and Sweet potatoes.

Crusher does the best if he only eats meat.  It doesn't seem to matter what meats.

Onyx could eat rocks I'm sure.  If she eats too much fish she gets an oily coat though.

Emma does well with a lot of red meat. She's a fan of fish, but only occasionally.... She's a little strange, that way. She'll really love fish for a week, then pick at it for months til she gets that fishy urge, again.

Ena is eating fish, right now, and looking much, much better. We're doing a terrible version of an elimination diet (I actually KNOW how to do a real one, but I need her to stay in condition and I feel better feeding her something "balanced" since she's a baby) based on fish. No grain. NB kibble (for treats) and California Natural or NB canned for meals.

Bugsy does very well on beef and fish - he does fine on pork too but not as well as beef and fish

Beef heart is like a super food LOL

He is allergic to all that had feathers so the above is what we are generally limited to.

He's had rabbit and venison too but not as a normal feed so not able to say how he does on those solely
