Seizures in dogs can be triggered by any and all of the same things that trigger humans, altho some things can be even worse for dogs (like scents). Grief/stress - yes those can be triggers.
They can even be hereditary -- often those don't start until ages 3 - 5.
Stress is probably one of the biggest triggers. Anything from the excitement of playing hard with "buddies" to a family gathering -- or a grief- type event like losing a friend.
What do you do for your dog's seizures? My peke is seizure-prone and we control hers with acupuncture and Chinese herbs (I take her to a vet who does TCVM -- traditional Chinese veterinary medicine). It winds up being better (& cheaper) with less side effects than the regular medicines & blood tests can be.
