Abigail (Summer) is going to the vet tomorrow (Sowilu) *Update*

What should I expect them to do? I know she needs her vaccines, and get tested for HWs. What else?

    This is her current state:

Have a fecal done to see if she has intestinal parasites.

Ok I will make sure that is done.

Is she a new foster?  If she was a stray or her history is unknown, I would ask for a round of de-wormer/intestinal parasite treatment just as a precation.  I know a lot of people give any new dog a strong round of Panacur (I even gave it to Nikon as a puppy when we got him to clear out any giardia or worms).  I would definitely do a fecal, but they don't always show anything, depending on the lifecycle stage of the parasite.

Yes she is a foster until Sat. when her new owner is going to pick her up, she is coming down from NY.

I will ask for the Panacur.

I just got back from the vets and she is cleared off everything except parasites and she is HW+. What a blow! This will be my first experience with a HW+ dog. She has been treated for the parasites though and was given some ivermectin. Luckly Phyllis wants this girl to the end and I will be keeping her until she has gone thru the HW treatment. The vet wants to wait until she gets more weight and is a little more better and he will go ahead and do the treatment. It is still expensive for Phyllis so I offered to do a small fundraiser to help with the cost. It is cheaper to do it here in NC than it is in NY. She was prescribed Prednisone.

That's so unfortunateSad  Will she be able to stay inside? It's usually important for them to stay calm and quiet during treatment, and it's so hard for dogs to stay quiet when staying outside.  (things to see, etc)

Hope she recovers well and is able to go to her forever home soon

Yes, she will be going to another vet on tuesday to get evaluated and if he approves he will be doing the treatment that Thursday and Friday and on Friday she will be going home to NY where she will be kept calmed and under AC.
