    possible fleas?

Jeeze I hate fleas, the first and last infestation we had in our house was in 2000 and it took over 8 months to get rid of. My family sprays our yard with a spray specificly for fleas and ticks every year, and we normally dust or spray the entire house including the furniture with a pet safe spray twice a year when we deep clean... it's been so many years since I've seen a single flea that things have gotten lax and it's been 9-10 months since the last house spraying which is good for 6 months.

Can someone who has fleas in their house, and on their cat bring the fleas over to someone else's house on their clothes or whatever and introduce fleas/cause an infestation? I haven't actually seen a flea yet and there is no flea dirt or fleas on any of the dogs I looked very very carefully this evening but my pet rats are itchy with no signs of clear infestation, the dogs seem itchier than normal, and I don't know if I'm just being paranoid but I keep feeling *something* on my feet. It would make sense that my friend with teh flea problem(which he's treating) would have infested my room since that's where we hang out, or that I would have brought fleas home on my clothes and they would be most prevalant in my room where I toss my laundry...

Help! What are emergency flea eradication/prevention measures I can take? I've got pet rats as I said and one is healing from surgery and can't take stress, so any chems that are smelly or toxic are definitely out but if there are fleas I want them dead and gone - yesterday. Thanks.

To answer your question, yes, someone who has fleas on their clothing could transfer them to your house.  I would think you would have seen fleas on the dogs or flea dirt.  If you still aren't sure, bathe the dogs and rats (the ones who aren't recovering) and look again.  Maybe some pollen has blown in and it's allergies.  If it's fleas, maybe someone could keep the recovering rat when you treat the house.  I could never volunteer for that because my JRT would go nuts and the poor rat would be mighty stressed.

I would give the dogs a Capstar just to be safe.  It will kill any fleas on the dogs.
