Supplements aren't fast and typically if you stop using they stop helping. I have a little article I did that I'm happy to email to you if you want to email me (not a PM -- go across from my name to the "Contact" button and choose "email";) because it's an attachment.
Glucosamine and chondroitin type supplements are "hydrators" - that means they take the cartilage that is still there and "plumps" it up with moisture so it cushions better. But that ONLY Helps if there *is* cartilage still there that will work.
I like Knox Nutra Joint -- it's essentially gelatin and calcium that helps the body *re-build* cartilage. It's NOT fast - -you have to use it about 3 months to see change, but what change you DO see is permanent because it helps the body RE-BUILD that cartilage between joints.
There are a lot of homeopathics and herbs that can help but honestly the BEST help is TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veteirnary Medicine). If I recal you're in the Keys? There is upon a glance at least one TCVM vet in the keys. If you go to http://www.tcvm.com -- that's the Chi Institute website and on the left is a locator. Type in your zipcode and it will list anyone within 200 miles but I saw at least ONE that was right in Key West.
We're fortunate in Florida -- Dr. Xie teaches at UF at Gainesville and he's got a lot of Florida vets certified. But acupuncuture, more than anything else, can really help maintain arthritis and reduce the inflammation.
I'm not talking about leaving your regular vet -- simply **adding** this as a complimentary therapy.
Feel free to holler if I can help.
