Can anything in the home be used to help vomitting?

    Can anything in the home be used to help vomitting?

    I would love to have a dog that DID NOT have a touchy stomach.  Something obviously has set Ari's off, again.  I come home to diarreah in the kennel and she's now vomitted throughout the whole house (once in her upstairs kennel, then in the downstairs...I had to let her loose in the house while I cleaned the kennels, so she vomitted everywhere).  Now she's vomitting up foam, white stringy stuff that means there's nothing left for her to vomit.  Oh yeah, and b/c I cannot handle vomit, I proceeded to lose MY dinner in the toilet.

    I can't afford an emergency vet visit, nor do I think this constitutes an emergency...unless she's still ill tomorrow (keep in mind this is not unusual for Ari to have sporadic issues with vomiting and diarrhea, but it has been a LONG while since her last).  Is there anything I can do or give her to help settle her stomach?  If this persists tonight and tomorrow morning, I will call our regular vet - and I know they'll squeeze her in...I just don't have the funds for an e-vet visit.  Our emergency funds are currently wiped out due to a recent family tragedy.

    She got part of a beef marrow bone last night (she's had them before) and her regular kibble.  Very few treats yesterday actually, as well (but all stuff she's had since we've had her).  As far as I can tell, she got into nothing naughty.  We're VERY good at monitoring her and preventing her from getting anything in the house.  She was outside yesterday, but always within view and didn't eat anything she shouldn't have (it's where we usually take her and it's always very free of litter etc..).

    Right now I have her in the downstairs kennel, so I can monitor her and for ease of cleaning (gotta love wall to wall carpeting when your pupper is sick!).  She's looking pretty glum and just wants to cuddle with me (she gets super clingy when sick).  Poor girl.  I wish I knew what set this off.  It COULD have been the marrow bone.  We had an issue in the past with a bad bone causing her to be sick, but that was muuuuch worse than what she is like now.

    I'll probably be looking into holistic care for Ari soon.  Between her recent outbreak on her skin, her chronic yeast infected ears and her touchy stomach, I just think I need someone to care for the whole her not the bits and pieces.  I love our regular vet and will continue to use them, but I'd like a holistic doctor to help supplement her care.  I know her regular vet would be on board (they don't practice a holistic medicine but are very open minded and always love to talk about various approaches to pet care and are supportive).

     Chamomile tea works wonders! Throw a little chicken broth, and some honey in  there. YUM!

     Dogs can have Pepto-Bismol. This link gives the dosage by weight;

      It's possible the bone caused pancreatitis if you didn't scoop out the marrow. Jessie had an attack of pancreatitis after eating a beef rib bone with a small amount of fat on it. She's had them before but it's the only thing she ate that day that could have caused the pancreatitis. Please keep us updated on Ari; I'll be sending healing vibes.

    Just the wrong bacteria in a bone can set them off -- and different bacteria would produce different amounts of illness.

    Chamomile -- yes.

    Pepto-- yes

    Probably one of the things I really should make a bigger point of is that TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) truly TRIES to be "complimentary medicine" -- literally, they don't want to be your "only" vet.  They WANT to work with a regular vet.

    Chi Institute -- That's the link to the Chi Institute and there are two pages of vets just in your state.  IF you are anywhere near a border then do it by zip code rather than by state - or check both states just to make sure it doesn't miss someone near you.

    They'll give you diet help -- it sounds to me like what Dr. DiNatale calls "leaky gut" -- which recurs.  And it can often go right along with allergies and other such stuff.

    Have you tried the Blue Power Ear solution for Ari's ears?  It truly has helped my bunch and the other thing I use regularly for Billy is Zymox Ear Drops.  It is enzymatic (and I can get that at *either* the regular or holistic vet).  NOT an ear cleaner -- it's something completely different.

    I know Chinese herbals for an iffy stomach and I know homeopathics, but nothing just "around the house" stuff other than pepto and chamomile.
