    IMHA

Tootie is a very sweet dog who unfortunately has been hospitalized this week with IMHA. I am so sick with worry and don't know which way to turn. After two days in the hospital he has had 1 transfusion and this morning his RBC was 28 initially but now has dropped down to 22. I am trying to do all that I can to save him. I will know more tomorrow. Tootie is my granddaughters dog but he lived with me for the last 11 months. I took him tp New York to visit her and in a liitle over a week he came down with this. I am currently in Illinois and want to go get him so that I can ensure he gets the care he deserves. His spirits are very high and the vet says he is very active.

You've come to the right place to get some information and support -- there is an ENORMOUS thread (like over 70 pages now) that's only been running since Christmas -- just with bunches of folks dealing with this.

My Billy  (yep, in my pic) is an IMHA survivor -- it's a horrible disease, and very difficult sometimes to get them to respond.  I will email you my phone -- my husband and I try to be available to folks to help with information and support and just to answer some of the billion questions you have.  My Billy had six transfusions in a month -- it can take a while to get the drugs to kick in and get the body to "lay off" itself.
