Awww, poor Kaiser Sad  Get better soon big fella!

I really appreciate everyone's good vibes and thoughts. He still seems to not be feeling too hot, but is at least drinking a little bit of water and he ate a treat. The vet didn't act like she was giving me a devastating diagnosis or anything, because i was thinking the worse with a fistula. He will need lifelong treatment though, which saddens me because at 4.5 years old i wasn't expecting to deal with a lifelong disease. I'm hoping the obstruction is making everything worse than it seems. I'll need to do more research on the condition when i have more time. Again, thanks everyone!

Awwwwww, Kaiser, bud, feel better soon.   Grady understands your like of paper towels but ya gotta leave them alone.  Tell your mom to give you some ear rubbies from me.  My pack & I are thinking of you.

Poor Kaiser; he should start feeling better now that the obstructions have been removed. Man, with the problems with his rear end, he couldn't have picked a worse time to get into the trash. Sending prayers and healing vibes; hope he starts feeling better by tomorrow. Did the vet mention using warm, moist compresses? One of our cats had infected anal sacs and the vet had me apply the compresses for five minutes three times a day. It may help reduce some of the swelling.

whew I am glad you took him in this morning! Kaiser buddy Bugsy loves all paper items too and they really aren't meant for eating.  Shock horror I know but really no more paper! (or mulch)

Megan don't stress too much about him having a diagnosis - Bugsy got diagnosed this winter with hypothyroid at about 3.5yrs.  He is so much better since being treated and it just becomes routine.  I know nothing of Kaiser's condition but I feel happy that the rest of his health is so good you will easily manage it and he will feel tons better!

    Quick healing Kaiser!

Awww, poor Kaiser!  I hope that he's feeling better quickly!

I am happy to report that Kaiser seems to be feeling a bit better this morning. He actually got up to greet me at the door and he ate his breakfast. I can tell he doesn't feel great, but this is a lot of improvement since yesterday.

One thing i'm concerned about is his weight. He only weighed 8o lbs at the vet. I don't weigh him often but the last time he was 89. Now looking at him he looks skinny. I can feel his spine and he looks to have a significant tuck. He's always been thin, but kinda looks crappy now. I don't know if it's happened gradually and i didn't notice or this is what 2 days of not eating does. So, should i gradually try putting weight on him or should i be loading him up and letting him eat whatever/whenever he wants?

     glad he is feeling better!!

Interestingly I thought he looked thin in some pics you posted last week or so and I know he has always been lean but I thought he looked especially so.  I wonder if he was experiencing pain prior to the blockage when pooping?

I would not 'load' him up especially with the anal issues so I would gradually put weight on.  I might also ask the vet that saw him yesterday whether it is best to add an extra meal or to add to his current meals and or if adding a fiber supplement would help.  I think it is going to be important that you figure out how to keep the back end running smoothly so to speak LOL and get him the food he needs.

Good luck and still in our thoughts!

I was thinking about him this morning when I looked at Josie pic's for the umpteenth time.  lol    I hope he's much better.

He's doing okay. He seems to feel pretty good when he's outside...running around like normal. His butt still looks really bad, it bleeds constantly, and he licks it all the time. He is due to go back to the vet in the next couple of days, as soon as he finishes his keflex. The fistula is so big though, i guarantee they will immediately put him on cyclosporine. He is still very thin, but he has been eating.

Thanks for thinking of him, guys! It really means a lot...
