OK, no grimacing from the professional groomers. LOL
But, I've been wanting to do something with Bruder's thick, course fur, such as a trim. I bought an inexpensive pair of thinning shears; and went to town on the backs of his legs and a bit under his tail.
Here's before pictures:

I only trimmed a little from under his tail. I want to do more work on the tail, on the sides; and will do that soon.
He was SO good while I worked on him. I started off with a good brushing, then he just laid down while I hacked away. Lies, if you are reading this...you have to know I was think about your statement of "just hack away, I really can't do a lot of damage with thinning shears." That really is what gave me the confidence to try it myself as opposed to taking him to a groomer.
Now, the shears I had were quite inexpensive from Petsmart....I can only imagine how much better he would look with a better pair.
