    Help with losing Hair

First off I've talked to a couple people who have owned dogs longer then I've been alive and its not the mange in any form but

about a month or 2 ago Raja started loosing hair around one of her eyes and one side of her nose.......The hair around the nose seems to be growing back and so did the hair around her eye......now it seems as if the hair around her eyes is getting worse

Here's some pics of the area......and its only these too areas

weve had her since she was 4 weeks old.........she's been eating purina puppy chow since they day she could handle hard food....we have other stuffies that we giver her for vitamins n what not we got from the vet.

anyways ideas? I wanna say she's just itching but i've been watching her the last week she hasn't been scrtaching those areas

I would take your dog to the vet and see what is causing the hairloss. It sound to me like it  could be mange, but the vet will be able to tell... I would also get your dog on a better food than Purina Puppy Chow. There are many foods listed on the Forum on Nutrition that you might want to try.....

It could be allergies from grain. Our Belgian Malinois had that same problem. It was demodectic mange combined with allergies of wheat

How do you know its not mange? Did you get her tested for it? I thought I understood that sometimes even after the vet tests for mange that it comes out negative,,but yet it still could be mange.  I definately would check into that.

I also would change foods. Whether it be that my dog was on a food that some think is great or some think is bad, it wouldn't matter, I would change it to see if another food would help.  Sometimes its the food, or a certain ingredient in the food.

    Good luck!

Go to a vet. If he/she can't help, find a good dermatologist. The dog needs help. First thing to do is to get him on a good food. Good luck, poor little thing.

How old is your dog now? That looks like a mild case of puppy strangles (puppy facial pyoderma) to me.

looks like a mild case of puppy

    She's just turned 8 months.

My only thought is...If it is the food this would be happening from the first as purina puppy chow is the only food she's ever eaten....There's nothing new that's been used in the house since she's been here........we use the same shampoo on her....same washing det. etc etc for clothes which she likes to play with.....so I'm kinda clueless....We will be taking her to the vet after new years...that's a given...It just looks like she's rubbed her hair off she doesn't scratch those areas just rubs um on the floor or with her paws a whole lot....especially when she's tired

even her treats r the same thety always been...so once again im stuck on what to do till we can make it to the vet

I really do think its puppy strangles, but she's a bit on the old side for it... I guess it could be autoimmune too. Is her face swollen at all? What about her lymph nodes?

    puppy facial pyoderma

from what I've read on this

    say all this

appears initially as acute swelling of the face, primarily of the lips, eyelids, chin, and muzzle. It may easily be confused

that's not it...nothing swelling...and its not hurting or she'd be growling at me when im touching those areas and she just lets me...

so the dh is saying he think she just rubbed it off

sure looks like demodex to me.

But demodex usually isn't that itchy... unless she's got a secondary infection too.

I agree.  That is often how demodex starts.  There are different type of mange, and even if those people said its not mange, it could be a type they haven't seen.  You need to have a skin scraping done.  It could be bacterial, or it could be demodex mange.  Both are easy to clear up if you catch them early.
