Supplements for hip dysplasia
I've seen a lot of posts on the boards about hip dysplasia and the supplements given to help. Our 5 year old Boykin recently started limping very badly and even hopping as to not put her left rear leg down. We took her in for x-rays and the vet said she did something to her hip that "aggravated"...

UTI?
I'm thinking Finn has a UTI. He had 2 pretty serious accidents yesterday. I mean there was an unbelievable amount of urine. Today, no accidents, but he is peeing and acting like he doesn't realize he's doing it. DH and I were training him tonight and he was in a sit in front of DH and suddenly...

Joint help with NO shellfish (Emma)
So, Emma Nems went to the doctor, yesterday. She's gotten very un-playful, snappy, and generally unpleasant, lately. Also, I've had to drastically reduce her food (and she hasn't lost an ounce!). He took lots of blood, and she was awesome! She had blood sent to Michigan, for a thyroid panel...

canine Diabetes Insipidus
Free was diagnosed with possible DI after a very long time of being sick. She has been on desmopressin for 2 weeks and her SG has finally gone up a little bit and urine is more concentrated. Vet wants to try this med for a month and see what happens. Next is an MRI to see if there is a pituitary tumor...

Blood In Urine ~ Need Help Quick
Layla just turned 3 y.o. last week and was spayed at 4 months. She is wee wee pad trained and I just found blood in her urine. Two spots about the size of a golf ball. She also had some blood on her little va-jay-jay..... Could this be the sign of a UTI?? She has never bled like this before. I don't...

Pregnant, no - false pregnancy - NO Miscarriage!!! UPDATED 7/21
When they say breeding is not for the faint of heart, they mean it! Oh what a ride it has been, and it keeps going downhill. What really sucks is I have tried to do everything right, and nothing has come out like it should! When Piper came in 2 months early from being around another bitch in heat, I...

Questions about hair bows
One, do people put bows on male dogs too? Or is it female dog thing? Two, how do you train a dog to leave it in their hair? I put a hairtie in my dogs hair and it was out in about 3 minutes. How do you train them to leave it in?

involuntary head shaking?
I'm looking for some advice here... not sure if this is a big deal or not. I've noticed, twice today and a few times in the past month or so, that when Sammy lays with his head on something (which is most of the time -- he either curls in a ball or lays with his head on something) sometimes...

Groomer questions
I've decided to take Angel to a groomer instead of trying to clip her myself, for now. I have used a groomer in the past to bathe my guys, when I didn't have time, but short of that, I've not really used a groomer so I'm not exactly sure how everything works. I figured that I'd ask...

Maggie's vet visit (sharismom)
Two hours later... The ear is a minor ulcer, treatable with antibiotic ointment. Her heart - bilateral enlargement. I waited almost an hour to get approval from the shelter for xrays and meds for this, still don't know if it'll be okayed, but told the vet I'd pay for those if not approved...

Elbow callouses, infected, bleeding, have a question
Allie has elbow callouses, pretty bad, she licks and licks. One got infected, took her to vet, they wrapped it, gave her antibiotics, Said I could also use an E-collar on her. I think it needs to get air, and we've never used the collar. What's the best thing to do? She's 9 and a couch...

Blood in stool
My older dog (9 1/2 years) had blood in his stool this am. It was a little loose though not runny. We were just on a trip to BC, Canada and came home (15 hour car ride) two nights ago. He was very thirsty when we got home. His temp is normal. 38.3 C. The blood wasn't an alarming amount, but it did...

Gibson a week later
Just a little update on Gibby. He is still eating boiled beef/rice and I can see now he is not getting enough at 2 cups 3 times a day. You can not tell how much is too much or too little when you feed him because he is a chow hound...loves to eat, will eat TOO MUCH and always look for more. But last...

BUTCHERED LOOKING SPAY
I am new to this forum, but I am doing a search for my pet concern and this site came up so I hope someone can help... I just got my 4 month old puppy spayed today and the surgery site looked like hell! It's all wrinkled and looks like the sides were not put together neatly. I expected to see...

Liver Shunt
Long story short... I have a large, purebred pup in my house right now with a diagnosed liver shunt. He's the product of a puppy mill (shock...), and was surrendered to us after mounting medical bills were too much. Now, we had an ultrasound done, and it's confirmed. Liver shunt. Now...

Paw Blisters
My grandparents have a chihuahua mix named Lucy. Recently, she's come out with small pus-filled blisters in between her paw-pads. They took her to the vet, and he diagnosed a food allergy. He wants her to come off Nutro, and be put on Iams or Purina One. Needless to say, I'm urging...
