Need an orthopedic bed for a large crate

So, I'm shopping for a good orthopedic bed for a 48 x 30 x 33 crate and not having much luck. The beds that look nice are 7" thick, and that's too tall for in the crate. The thin beds don't look very supportive.

Any suggestions for a good bed?

    ETA: It's for a 70 lb lab.

Look at dog shows, if you can get to one or two. They always have stuff that you can't find anywhere else.

I bought a thick orthopaedic bed for my mom's dog last year, when he turned 13. He LOVES it. Someone local makes them. He's a smallish dog. I got a midsized bed (his crate is 30' x 23' and it would probably fit) for $40. I thought that was a good deal.

Premier Kennel Komfy Pads are fairly thick and the XXL size is so big that my clients won't carry it because it doesn't fit in their largest crate.

My local Joann's store carries foam.  You may want to try there or another type fabric/craft store especially one that carries home dec fabrics (most likely to carry foam)  Then just wrap it in a sheet or blanket if he won't destroy his bedding.

Try to find a foam bed  or sofa manufacturer in your area and have them make a
    custom crate bed...

My mom used to work for a sofa manufacturer and we got our foam from him...
